Before applying the fire block foam put painters tape around the 2 gang box as a mask then remove after you spray the the foam and it's nice and clean.

My electrician recessed the electrical box in stucco over the garage. He used a hole saw that was for wood or drywall not for stucco and it worked just fine. Floodlight camera gets power from the outlet on the ceiling the garage door opener plugs into.

Excellent video tutorial. Very through work and attention to details ( learned new electrical parts that I never seen before). I learned from SparkyChannel electrician Bill that after wire-nut I put electrical tape around it to prevent from any insects or weather elements.

An electrician won't staple the romex because it isn't required/nor code for old/finished work situations. Check out 334.30(B) of the NEC

great video very well explained, but i would’ve left the original outlet intact and made a wire connection in the new box you added , i would’ve never used a gfci if it trips by accident you got no cameras

A slight problem with hardwiring a mains powered external camera into your house ring main is IF for what ever reason the camera or connections outside do get damp or corroded its likely to trip your circuit breaker and knock out the ring main on the whole of the ground floor. It would have been better to have run the cable and fitted a plug on the end that would then permanently plug into the socket. if you then got a power trip you could unplug the outside camera making diagnostics easier. just my tuppence worth :)

@@brandong2142 it would if he had brought the cable through to the front of the socket and then put a fused plug on the camera cable. What he has done is hard wire it into the ring main at the back. its not something I would do for the reasons in my first comment.

All the links are in the description. That particular model (cam mount) is currently sold out. It appears the cam wired is also sold out. If you can get your hands on one, and the mount is still unavailable, you can use the hardwire kit to convert it. www.amazon.com/Hardwired-Kit-Ring-Spotlight-Wired/dp/B088WH57YH I know that doesn't help you right now, so sorry.

Hi - what you have done to avoid pushing the insulation down if it wasnt pushed? Is there a way to fish the cable without harming insulation? I am in a cold weather climate area. Insulation is critical and thus I do not want to mess it up.

My original plan was to cut a slot through the insulation all the way to the drywall and then fish it down with a magnepull. There was already a hole running down the wall, so I used that.

I see you have an extra red wire on the camera mount unit and you just cap off. I have an extra red wire on the wall instead, do I also just cap off just like you? It's weird my Ring Floodlight didn't come with a red wire

The red wire on my Ring is to control other lights. You can run wire to extra lights so they'll turn on whenever the Ring detects motion. I'm not sure what your red wire is. My guess is the device that was there previously had a similar motion control system. If that's the case, you can cap it off and there'll be no issue.
