Just look at the grain in that wood 😍. You don’t waste time, mate, and you make it look pretty routine. Absolutely gorgeous design and build. And also love the quiet and clean editing. Thank you for being awesome

It's gorgeous! I have never heard of messmate timber! Had to Google it and was sad when I realized I could probably never have it. Live the grain pattern. Great design and so well executed! New sub!

I don't think this is a DIY for beginners who use simple tools like a hand saw & hammer 😅 Beatifull & perfect table, love your work 👌
@KastnerFurniture2 ай бұрын
@strongbrand1651 Yeah, definitely a little beyond entry level, but with some patience you could do the whole build with a circular saw and an orbital sander and a few jigs

@KastnerFurniture I agree, and I'm not the right person to do it because the results will definitely be messy 😆

Your channel came across my feed today. Have to tell how refreshing it is to watch. After watching channels like Blacktail studios and Bourbon Moth it is nice watch a funiture maker that lets their craft tell the story. As talented as Blacktail and Bourbon Moth are they honestly talk too much. I will be looking forward to watching your build videos in my feed. Your coffee table looked amazing mate. 👍🏿🍺🇦🇺

Subscribed.... Great work! You really did justice to that beautiful wood... Since when is Tassie Oak called messmate btw?
@KastnerFurniture2 жыл бұрын
Cheers, the grain was a real beauty! So Messmate (stringybark) is just a single species of eucalypt, whereas Tas Oak is a few different trees that does include messmate, but you don't really know exactly what you're getting with it... Vic Ash is a combination of two of those three, excluding messmate (but is grown in Vic not Tas)

@KastnerFurniture2 жыл бұрын
Think they ended up around 14 degrees, well at least that's what I had it as in sketchup... may have varied it slightly in the actual build based on what looked best to the eye.

What kind of wood is this?
@KastnerFurniture Жыл бұрын
It's called messmate, just one of many different species of eucalyptus native to Australia (also known as stringybark, or Tasmanian Oak)

Can it really be called diy if youre a furniture maker? I do hvac, and i wouldnt call it diy if i did my furnace, but if i built my own coffee table it would be diy
@KastnerFurniture Жыл бұрын
I'm a web developer, doing this in my garage on weekends... it's DIY for me!
@DamnKP11b8 ай бұрын
Good rule of thumb is that if you did it yourself then it’s diy, but.. and this is where it gets tricky.. if you had someone else do it or went to the store to buy it then it’s not diy. lol
@MtnDewWarrior8 ай бұрын
@DamnKP11b obviously that is exactly what diy is. However diy is typically when you try to do it yourself instead of hiring a professional to do it. As I said I do hvac and have for almost 10 years. If I replace my own furnace i would consider that diy. However, if my brother replaced his, it would be diy. It's really just semantics

If you do it yourself without hiring someone it is literally diy.
@MtnDewWarrior2 ай бұрын
@prof.crastinator obviously, as I said 5 months ago above your comment. That is the definition of diy or do it yourself. However, typically, when people say diy it refers to them attempting to do something themselves that they are not a professional at. Much like I would say I diy my furnace replacement because I am a journeyman hvac guy with year of experience. However I would say I diy my brakes and rotors
