My sister in law graduated with Hardy she said he seemed like a loaner didn’t really seem like he had a lot of friends. Jokes on them cause now he’s a millionaire. Shout out to my people in Philadelphia Mississippi. Miss them late night dirt roads

My husband died in a motorcycle accident 2 years ago and I Know he hit those gold streets on two wheels! He was definitely a wild one, but also saved by the grace of God! He’d make you wonder if he got through the pearly gates. This song is gut wrenching to me- but dang does it describe him perfectly. Give Heaven Some Hell and Hold it down till I get there, Mark Gilbert. Gone way too soon! 5/9/74-3/10/21

I love this because its more like he's celebrating his friends life rather than fixating on his death. Which is so much easier said than done! My favorite part is when he's talking about the call to the altar; "...heads bowed singing just as I am..."

I have seen Hardy in concert multiple times before the rest of the world caught on to how amazing he was. He puts on the best show I have ever seen which is saying a lot. I love all genres of music. His concerts were better than any genre, any artist ever. Another of his songs you need to check out is "A Rock" with your wife!

I heard this song the day after my younger brother died… couldn’t make it even through the first verse…. Cried my eyes out. Kept on trying ( and crying), every day till I could make it through the whole song. Still brings back memories of my brother- he was a lot like the man who died - miss him dearly! Love your reaction!

I loved the part where he said, "how'd you clear with the man upstairs?" And the part about "I was there when you raised your hand, heads bowed, singing Just As I Am" is a song of salvation when one accepts Jesus as their Lord and Savior. Hardy is an exceptional talent! Thanks for doing this!

I think @Nick Arenas is probably right ... "hide your beer, hide your clear from the man upstairs ..." I've thought since the beginning that he was talking about Everclear, which is a wicked 190 proof grain alcohol that'll knock you off your feet very quickly. Good grief, I don't even know how I drank that stuff in my younger years, it tastes like gasoline, but it was cheap then and an easy way to get a buzz very quickly with a small amount of alcohol. It might be more of a midwest/southern thing, idk, but I once had a friend stand on a high diving board, pour clear on himself, light it on fire and jump in, so ... there's that. In my mind that completely fits with the visual I built in my head about his adrenaline seeking buddy. (BTW, don't try that at home, Kids. He burned all the hair off of his body and had wicked burns in some uncomfortable places since it also burned his swim trunks.) But I will also say that it would completely NOT be the first time I have misunderstood lyrics! LOL.🤣😂

Thank you for playing this song. I hadn’t heard it. My brother went to heaven a little over a month ago. The words your wife said just finally opened up for me what I needed to grieve. I’ve been sad. My parents and brother are gone. They played and sang gospel music (you should have seen my dad’s white Falcon Gretch.) My brother played drums for them and went on to be a worship leader. Listening to this I could see them playing and singing together in Heaven. My dad always sang a song g Stroll Over Heaven (Alan Jackson recorded it a few years ago.) I could see my dad with his arm around my brother taking him all over heaven siinging that song in a goofy, ironic way. It’s the first time I’ve cried since the funeral and I really needed this to grieve.

I LOVE Hardys music. Not only are his lyrics awesome, he seems to also be as a person Very grounded. And I understand his lyrics where others might not because like Hardy, I was raised in country. I'm from Alabama, so in this song where he references locking in the hubs, I smiled. Memories of being a teen and going mud riding in the pastures. We had to lock in the hubs to get traction we needed so we didn't get stuck! I'm 60 now, but I'll never forget mud riding, locking in hubs and doing doughnuts in the fields at night. 🙂

I love that Hardy is making a point to emphasize the fact that dedicating your life to God doesn't mean the fun is over. To the contrary. When he followed his friend down the aisle to "pray that prayer", he was signing up for an eternal hang. The fun will resume, It won't be immediate but till then... Give Heaven Some Hell. Genius writer.

I love this song because it reminds me of my Dad who passed away in December of 2016. Something that stuck with me was how he had a line of people out side the church to say goodbye along with near half of town there to say goodbye at his wake. But the most interesting thing I learned about him after he passed away was how wild people thought he was and how much he was respected by those people too. This year on December 3rd will be 7 years. They may have been the most painful years after he was gone but I am thankful for the years I had with him and the memories that came with them.

Hey guys I'm behind on seeing yalls reaction to "Give Heaven Some Hell". That's a deep southern country slang expression, particularly in how the word hell is used in a sentence., The situation in which it's used that can be interrupted a few ways. Examples would be: --giving someone a playful and/or non playful hard time about something embarrassing they did or the latter something shameful-- Embarrassing/picking on someone you know: "you ought to go give'em some hell about it 😂"

I think Hardy is a phenomenal songwriter/storyteller - I always love the little word twists or poetical phrasing I find in his songs. On the more country side I think you'd enjoy "A Rock" and "Signed. Sober You", and a couple that are a blend of country and rock are "Jack" and "the mockingbird & THE CROW" (there's both a lyrical video and a Claymation video for that - I actually prefer the lyrics version for a first time listen because I think watching the Claymation you get caught up in the visuals and miss the impact of the lyrics, but that's just my personal opinion). I lean more country, but I love all his stuff - have yet to hear a song of his I don't like.
