Dev Anand and Zeenat Aman are siblings who are parted when their parents divorce. Zeenat Aman thinks her brother is dead. Anand becomes a pilot and knows that his sister has joined drug-addicted hippies. He finds her in Nepal. She refuses to recognize him. He falls for Mumtaz, but does not tell her about his sister. He marries Mumtaz later and then tries very hard to revive his sister. When Aman realices that he is indeed her brother, she can't face up to him and commits suicide.

I remember when Usha Uthup (Usha Iyer) came to perform at the Bubbles in Nairobi, a place where one could dine, dance and have food and drinks as well as watch a performance. I had a table at the front and was with my family. As soon as we were allowed to hand in requests, this was one of the songs that I asked. And she got the audience really going. She then asked for more requests and I kept on sending them to her and once she looked at me and said: "This young man here, is sending more requests then all of you put together. Please give him a big hand."

RD was so ahead of his time both in terms of innovations and craftsmanship that his talent couldn't have been measured by any of the yard stick available at that point of time. Dev Anand initially had Lata Mangeshkar for the Hindi part and Asha Bhonsle for the English part, but some how Asha was not getting the English part right. Here we have to admit that with all their vocal wizardary, this was one department where the Mangeshkar sisters lacked the correct diction of English phrases. Dev Anand and RD happen to watch a show in Delhi where a very young Usha Iyer was performing. After hearing her, both of them decided to give her a try and the rest is history.

Fabulous.. thanks so much for the upload! Most of the songs in this movie were so ahead of its time. RD could really look 10 years in the future. And to top it all, an explosive combination of Asha and Usha Uthup.. really Mind blowing! Which octave was Asha singing anyway? Boy, she is a blast! And amazing that her vocals and breathing and perfectly under control at those high notes.. my head spins just by the thought of it! And Usha complementing perfectly with her husky voice in the low notes.

In our Freshers Welcome Party during our 1st years Engineering studies at Jadavpur University, Kolkata they invited Miss. Jojo to perform in our hostel. That was in 1989 and she was really cute looking at that time. She was the only girl in an all male hostel of about 500 students. We went wild as she started singing. And then she sang this song. She sang both Asha and Usha voice. It was just mesmerising. We partied till early morning and she was very obliging. A very memorable freshers welcome indeed.
