I would rather you ask the manufacture of the chair the answer to that question. I will provide a link to the manufacture here: www.harken.com (it is item #2234 at Harken). I would assume you can if you wear an approved safety harness also as a secondary backup unit.

Two comments...why ignore the manufacture's suggested procedure???? Second....why no "bounce" test to assure all systems are good to go. I agree with Ben also. NOT A GOOD VIDEO IN MY LIMITED 55 years of boating.

My understanding is that there is no reason to put human life on a bowline knot. Figure 8 on a bight is widely accepted as safe, I prefer figure 8 bunny ears.

I agree with other comments. How lazy of the producer of this video not to show bowlines being used rather than the 'def. not' procedure of using shackles!
