My grandson played this song for me on my 60th birthday. It was the first song he ever played for me and was playing the song with a broken heart as his girlfriend had just broke up with him. It was the most tender of moments that we have shared. Thank you for inspiring my grandson Tyler and giving me that moment with him playing your music, it was priceless!

Verse 1] Funny how she calls tonight I need her more than ever I've been down in low cotton As lonesome as can be And I think about her often boys And even when I'm sober I read over the love notes The ones she wrote for me [Pre-Chorus] And if she want one night Well that'd be just fine, well [Chorus] Somebody fetch my walkin' cane I'm gonna get my baby I'm gonna run to meet her 'neath The shadow of the pines She's gonna hop that coal train She'll get off on Harlan Road Love me 'til the morning comes And leave me like a dream [Verse 2] And I'd run to her through tobacco fields And over 'cross the clover I'd wade a mile of briar patch, boys Just to touch her skin And I reckon I'm the foolish kind To beckon to her callin' But I can't seem to help myself Let that woman win [Pre-Chorus] And if she wants one night I'm gonna get what's mine, well [Chorus] Somebody fetch my walkin' cane I'm gonna get my baby I'm gonna run to meet her 'neath The shadow of the pines She's gonna hop that coal train She'll get off on Harlan Road Love me 'til the morning comes And leave me like a dream [Verse 3] Buddy, all I know Is I can't win for losing Either lay here in this lonely room Or let her have her way Buddy, all I need Is one night where she don't leave And this one just might be the night She decides to stay [Chorus] Somebody fetch my walkin' cane I'm gonna get my baby I'm gonna run to meet her 'neath The shadow of the pines She's gonna hop that coal train She'll get off on Harlan Road Love me 'til the morning comes And leave me like a dream Love me 'til the morning comes

Tyler is a good Ole Kentucky boy... Awesome music. With real meaning . No record executive telling him what to write and sing. He's twice artist that l.a. and NY would accept. Lot better than the so called country artist... Ten time better than the commercial artists

It’s a cover song. The band who wrote it is called NewTown👍🏻

@@dannyyonts687 Tyler Childers wrote the song but he was still an independent artist and NewTown had just lost their guitarist who was also the writer of a majority of their songs. But he was still pretty new to Lexington and they were based there at the time. So they helped each other out. It really is a crime how long he went unnoticed but he just couldn't get traction till purgatory. he actually wrote 3 or 4 songs for them on that CD and they ended up naming the CD Harlan Road as shout out to him but in an interview He said he wrote it way back in High School and he graduated same year as me in 09

I hope Tyler leaves behind where he came from. I pray he don't allow them to cover his voice or change his music to sound like everyone else's. This is refreshing, originality is what is missing in today's music, Tyler, don't change anything. I saw him hit a couple notes on his guitar that only Greg Lake could. Appreciate who he is, where he came from, sings about it, sounds just great. Glad he is well now. The devil's calling grabbed him but the good lord put a guitar in his hands and gave him a different cling and that guitar and through people and praying, he is done being sick. Will live a long time sharing music. Keep returning home. Must carry it with you Tyler

Love this era of Tyler, but if I'm being truthful, I love them all! I love how rhythmic his songs were during this era. They just have a raw energy that his later work seems to be lacking.

Funny how she calls tonight I need her more than ever I’ve been down in low cotton, As lonesome as can be And I think about her often boys And even when I’m sober I read over the love notes The ones she wrote for me And if she wants one night Well that’d be just fine Well, somebody fetch my walkin’ cane I’m gonna get my baby I’m gonna run to meet her ‘neath the shadow of the pines She’s gonna hop that coal train She’ll get off on a Harlan road Love me ’til the morning comes Leave me like a dream And I’d run to her through tobacco fields And over across the culvert I’d wade a mile of briar patch, boys Just to touch her skin And I reckon I’m the foolish kind Beckoned to her callin’ But I can’t seem to help myself Let that woman win And if she wants one night I’m gonna get what’s mine Well, somebody fetch my walkin’ cane I’m gonna get my baby I’m gonna run to meet her ‘neath the shadow of the pines She’s gonna hop that coal train She’ll get off on a Harlan road Love me ’til the mornin’ comes Leave me like a dream Buddy all I know is I can’t win for losin’ Either lay here in this lonely room Or let her have her way Buddy all I need is one night where she don’t leave And this one just might be the night she decides to stay Somebody fetch my walkin’ cane I’m gonna get my baby I’m gonna run to meet her ‘neath the shadow of the pines She’s gonna hop that coal train She’ll get off on a Harlan road Love me ’til the morning comes Leave me like a dream Love me ’til the morning comes
