I live in Harlem too and the same thing happened in my building. They would break the lock on the door and hang out in the stairway. I called management and 311 several times. It took months before it was finally rectified. It's sad.

Chicago has a 10 pm curfew for young people, this is a major problem in most big cities. Their parents either don’t care, can’t afford a sitter when they themselves are out, or when the parent is working nights.

When I was growing up back home in harlem...we had PARENT PATROL...that meant that when any of us were being out of control...other parents beat your ass then took you home and told your parents...we also had tenant patrol to kind of watch out for the neighborhood...as kids we weren't rich but we were richly GROUNDED...kids everywhere are being disrespectful and have no idea what it takes to make it past 50 yrs old....it's a sad situation I pray we all find a peaceful solution to this issue.

I hope that they have this at all times. These residents deserve better than that in their building. I can relate to this when i lived in the Bronx. Fellas would loiter & harass me however i fought back I don't take no mess right infront & around the Co-op entrances & we had security! As other tenants as myself heavily complained & to the management & the police department all the foolishness came to an end. Productive lives ?
