Excellent candid vid. It's reassuring seeing that I'm not the only one that encounters stripped bolts.

Getting ready to pull my inner and outer primaries to check seals on the crank and the transmission. I have a cow pie but watching your videos gives me courage and confidence I can do this. Thanks bud another helpful video. Take care and ride safe.

I've heard of those cow pie transmissions. Never knew I knew they look different. I'm going to 1970 and a 1980 and the 1980 has a sputh transmission and fire speed internals so none of my shovels have that type of transmission I wonder if it's better than a regular one

Glad it was useful, hearing one of my videos helps you feel like you can work on your own bike is a great feeling. Thanks and good luck

I had to laugh at the correlation of us Waterloo consumers to ABBA! 🤣That, motorcycle of yours has definitely been into just a time or two by previous owners. All I could offer is that if something has play in it and it shouldn't have, then I put new parts on. As far as me trying to do what I just watched you do, well I know my limitations, and I would not try any of that on my own. I always enjoy watching you work on your Shovel and Iron and you explaining how everything goes together and works. Keep wrenchin' on, and ridin' those beautiful bikes!

Hahaha, I like ABBA 🤣 Glad you enjoyed the video, there's plenty more work to be done on this one.

Love the outdoor filming--the light is good out there and it looks pleasant. I'm not gonna complain about what you did right or wrong, because I have no idea. This was all new information to me. I can tell you, though, that a ratchet top looks overly complicated with too many parts compared to my 5-speed. That thing was simple and straightforward to fix. This was a helpful video for me anyway, because the next thing I build will be a Duo-Glide, and it will need a 4-speed. In your next video, let us know what parts you decided to re-use and what parts you are replacing, and why. Also don't forget that anything Angel works on, her dad has worked on first and will be in really good shape since he does everything the right way and doesn't cut corners. That makes things a lot easier on her. Can't wait for part two on the tranny. Cheers!

It's nice outside! I enjoy being outdoors as much as possible so figured I would take advantage of the nice day and film it out there! I ordered parts today so the next part of this episode should be coming soon! Thanks for tuning in

hi from Russia - thank you. ( see Red Rider video to) have oil lake from shifter shaft bushing.... but i buy transmission top end, not disassemble it- buy new one. But not understand- how to change this bushing... buy new one... annddd its hole so litle bit less to shifter shaft, not anythig else in servise manual about it- only - change busing 31! and have fun
@buttcrackcycles2 ай бұрын
You have to ream the bushing to fit. You need to use a micrometer to measure the shaft diameter ream the bushing to fit. You also need to verify the shaft is the same diameter the entire length of the shaft, sometimes they'll wear one end down smaller than the other. If it's not you'll need to put the shaft in a lathe and turn it down until it's an even diameter along the length, then ream the bushing to fit the shaft.

@@buttcrackcycles thank you. buy another shaft- its same. not understan why new bushig are smaller shaft size....

Time Warp Custom Paint on KZbin . He shows how to do water slide image transfer. As far the " doing it wrong" comments, F them people. If it's a dumb idea but it works, is it really dumb? I'm sure as a field mech you have many ways of doing things some engineer never thought of. I know I do all the time. If we were closer NO DOUBT we would hang out! The song quote thing is part of every day life for me. My favorite answer to many questions is " Someone wrote a song about that" Anyway. Stay Safe, Stay Warm.

Oh I come up with some really, uhhh, creative solutions when doing stuff like fixing a bulldozer in the middle of a cow field 🤣 I'll check out the channel for the water transfer stuff, thanks for the suggestion

They say ironheads have a reputation of being abused by people doing their own work and not knowing what their doing. Shovelheads are almost worse. My shovel had a cam shim that welded itself to the cam because they didn't check clearance and a heavily worn oil pump drive gear. Luckily thats the worst of it and both didnt shear, go through the motor
@buttcrackcycles2 ай бұрын
Yeah that could've been bad! Glad it wasn't any worse
