What can you use if thar hole has broken off? About a 1/4" of mine snapped off at some point. I've tried several different plastic epoxies that did not stick to the fairing, something with JB weld. I believe the fairings are made out of ABS, a very smooth material to try to glue up, even after scratching up the surface.

AWESOME! Harley also sells that screw - PN 16585-96 it was like $1.97 just finished installing mine!

T27, they are not T25. You can use a T25, but a T27 fits the screws exactly as designed.

I thought that was wrong, I always used T27... And I don't bang my wratchet into the paint over and over :( wow

Great Video! Now here's my problem.... I over tightened one of the bottom bolts that hold on the outer fairing. (2009 street glide) It just keeps spinning, and spinning, and spinning. Cant seem to tighten or loosen at this point. I'm pretty sure I stripped out the screw insert. It's okay for now, no rattles or anything. Any tips for getting this bolt out in the future? Thanks in advance!
@YogisCycleService5 жыл бұрын
Michael Riggins ugh. That’s a tough one. I guess I would try grabbing the screw head with a needle nose and put some tension on it as you try to back it out and see if any threads will grab. If you can get the insert out with the screw I would epoxy the insert back in and pull the screw until it sets up and dries. From there you should be good hopefully. Does that make sense?
@Riggomesister5 жыл бұрын
@@YogisCycleService Makes sense to me. I will try it, down the road. Thanks!

Are the bolts 1/4 20×1/2? Someone cross threaded one of mine, i was going to clean it up with a tap. 2015 FLH triglide. With the bags.
@YogisCycleService4 жыл бұрын
Kevin Gleason they are 1/4 20 thread yes. I forget length off top of head. The center bolt on my 2014 is longer the 1/2, I can’t recall the length. It’s probably closer to 1 1/2. The 2 on the outside seem longer then 1/2 also, maybe 3/4 or 1” but I would have to pull them to remember. Sorry, that’s didn’t help did it lol. It depends on year too I believe.

on my 06 Ultra, the left brass insert (factory pressed in) broke loose and just spins in the the hole. have put epoxy, but it seems to break loose as well. Are these threaded inserts a bit larger in outer diameter than the factory pressed in ones? Also do you have a link to the place on Amazon you mentioned where you got yours at?
@YogisCycleService4 жыл бұрын
Yes I do believe they are. The factory inserts I think are a smooth sleeve that presses into the plastic housing and the threaded inserts are the same diameter plus the thickness of the threads. The link to buy is in the video comments above and it may have specs on it, not sure about that though, right under video title if you click on the right facing triangle I believe.

@@YogisCycleService Thanks, I overlooked it earlier. When i went into town today, I just stopped by the local HD and picked up 3 of them. $1.25 each. not to astronomically over-priced.

Ya know I was going to call it an old man bike but we are too close in age to be old men. Any reason you did not use some epoxy or super glue to help keep in place over the next ten years. have you played with different height windshields? I have heard the Klock Werks Flare windshield is well designed. I was watching for the Arc to float by with all that rain.
@YogisCycleService5 жыл бұрын
Chuck Habrack I thought about using epoxy but I wanted to see how this would perform first. If it needed it I would epoxy it in and I just might next time I take the batwing off. I just didn’t have it for this go round.
@YogisCycleService5 жыл бұрын
Chuck Habrack the windshield I got was made by a guy in Florida for $25. I couldn’t beat that and didn’t wanna pay $100 and honestly I love this one. No buffering and does a good job. Now for momma on back she would like a taller one but I tell her just to get a full face lol
