Hello Jon! Your video inspired me to get this guitar that I actually enjoy. Unfortunately, mine has some issues... The trem screws are not places at a correct angle, causing the springs to rub against the packplate and create noise. The cilinder in which the trem arm is mounted is too close to the edge of the trem cavity, and it is rubbing against the wood, making it impossible to get stable tuning. Also the trem cavity is cut in a slight angle, causing the backplate to touch the wood on the left side if the bridge is the up for lower action. That means that I cannot make it float with low action, it may look like it's floating, but the backplate is actually resting against the wood. From what I can see in the video, it looks like yours didn't have any issues and I was wondering if you are happy with its tuning stability. I'd really appreciate your opinion, as I'm torn between sending it back, possibly getting a better or worse one in exchange, and trying to fix it myself/sending it to a luthier.

Got a sunburst one, and it's terrific. Pickups are awesome and will not let you desire nothing more, they go easily from twang to a hot, raunchy sound. Playing it is a breeze and it became easily my favourite guitar to play...

The locking tuners, Wilkinson Trem, stainless steel frets, Tusq nut, and 12" neck radius (probably the sweet spot for most) is above and beyond what you expect for ~ $300.00. I have this and love it. The only thing I didn’t like stock was the pots. My push/pull pulled completely out on the second use and the Volume had almost zero sweep. Thomann has an order in to send replacements but I put a RS Guitarworks super pot in and a Bourne push pull and Mallory cap. I ordered a set of GFS hot replacement pickups and put them in (the cream covers look sweet). What is very strange is I could tell no difference in the pickups other than being a hair hotter but with a slight turn of the super pot they sound the same. It was sort of a wasted swap except I like the cream covers. I do not doubt that they may be the same pickups but with gfs qwik plugs. Great review and I love it as well. Mine needed a setup. It was shipped with truss loose.

Thanks! I have the sunburst "modern" version. Absolutely terrific guitar! No issues. Set it up for my play, 60 plus hours so far. capable of most any genre with pickup splitting. Flowing, beatiful design. always admired Semie Moseley's work. This is a really excellent offering for a Mosrite. The only nearly exact copy is the Hallmark by Bob Shade. at $1000. is good but not inexpensive one. Bob Shade designed the Mosrite pickup just like Semie. Not P90's. They have deeper bobbins and wound very hot. Eastwood models are excellent but have P90's and Jazzmaster vibrato. Thanks Sir!

This guitar is clearly a HB's try at a Mosrite, but with the pickups on the modern version it doesn't sound like one. Which is a shame, as the modern's spec is very desirable. It sounds great in your hands Jonathan, but i dread to think what it will sound like in mine! So near, yet sofar, i realy like The Ventures, but the original Mosrites now cost crazy money. One to add to my desirable list. Thanks for another great demo.

Eastwoods are decent, if not a little over priced. Harley b has locking tuners and a wilkinson though. I wanna get my hands on one, but I live in America. I can probably get one shipped though. I own a 2 univoxes and a white eastwood and I'd really like to see how this compares. I have a yamaha pacifica with a wilkinson bridge and locking tuners and I can do insane dive bombs and have the strings just flapping and it will go right back perfect in tune everytime.

Beautiful playing, and so well suited to that gorgeous guitar. Kinda funny though that Harley Benton knocks off a 60 year old guitar and names it the Modern. Still, nice to have a low-priced alternative to Eastwood, although I wish it was built in Indonesia or Vietnam rather than in China. Can't really justify the cost of an original Mosrite or one of the excellent MIJ Univox knock-offs (although I do own one excellent MIJ Matsumoku-built Univox and numerous other MIJ guitars & basses from the 60s through 80s - LOVE that era of guitars) so it's nice to have options and that HB sounds better than the original and old knock-offs.

I'm tempted by the baritone but I don't think it would do anything my Dano can't (except the whammy on the modern one) one of the non-bari moderns in black or blue might just be the one for me.

I bought one of these - and returned it two days later. The guitar Thomann sent me had a major problem with the neck. It was already a B Stock so they should have known there was a problem with the guitar. Shame on them. This is the fourth guitar (and third HB) from Thomann I've received with major problems. Fortunately, they have a great return policy. But buying a guitar from Thomann, and especially a Harley Benton, is just too risky at this point. I'm guessing KZbinrs like yourself get sent guitars in playable condition. The rest of us have to deal with Thomann's quality control issues. Otherwise, this guitar was way too heavy for me, personally. And the neck is just too damn wide and flat for my hands. That’s where you are mistaken.. in case you do not know, I was a customer way before they sent me their guitars for reviews. I had no problems with the guitars then and now. In any case, thanks for sharing✌️❤️

@@JonIsJustTooLoud If they're sending you guitars to review, then they're definitely sending you guitars that have been properly inspected and set up. It just makes sense for them to do this. I will say, I've been buying from Thomann for many years and never had this kind of problem before. Maybe I've just had a run of back luck. At least their customer service is quick about replying. And of course, over here, returns are free.
