Replaced the single coils with iron gears. My 550 and 450+ have retained their pups as I like the Roswell buckers, although iron Gear make lovely items. Tesla's sound nice too. Reminiscent of the old Wilkinsons

I only own Roswell pickups. The te-62 pickups to me sound excellent (I wouldn’t replace them) and my jazz bass are in my opinion very good (I probably wouldn’t replace them). Would be suprised if they ditched them, but others may have another opinion.

My TE-62cc sounds super nice since I changed the pots and electronic wires on my guitar. Also changed for a new jack, pickup-switch and added some Goth In-Tune brass saddles. Was thinking of putting in Fender Tex-Mex Tele-set on it, but this sounds as good as any Fender, for a much better price.

The Roswell humbuckers on my SC-450+ sounds so much better when I changed the "made in China" pots for better quality ones and also new electronic parts. It gives this guitar a really great sound. I don´t care if they are called "Roswell" or "Tesla", as long as it sounds great when I play in concerts.

Stolen from the Custom III post : Not sure one buys Harley Benton for its pickups. I have HB's with both Tesla and Roswell . Don't have problems with either. BUT, the "beauty" of Harley Benton , is that its BONES, are good enough, so that one can replace pickups, pots and switches with whatever you like. Perhaps even double the cost of the guitar with chosen upgrades. And still have a guitar that plays , or outplays brands G & F and P for a fraction of the cost...

I have a SC550II and I cannot call the Tesla Opus 1 pickups on them perfect allrounders. They are well made, good quality pickups, and they might find use for some modern genres, but I cannot call them real PAF replicas. The neck pickup is curiously bass heavy, almost boomy in some cases. And middle and bridge positions has a prominent treble frequency which can become somewhat abrasive when you use some distortion. Maybe that's why Tesla has recently come up with a new model in Opus 2. So sometimes an upper tier product does not mean a better solution. We recently have seen HB introducing new models with better components and naturally with a higher price point. That might attract some new customers as the product they are buying will need almost no upgrades; but at the same time the line loses its edge as a modding platform. Maybe HB needs a new strategy here and introduce better quality, better finished kits without any electronics or hardware to attract modding enthusiasts. That would work for me as I have quite a few pickups, machine heads etc removed from my HBs, and I do not know what to do with them

I have SC 550ii, and my experience with Tesla Opus 1 pickups is the polar opposite of yours. A perfect pair of PAF type pickups, and they handle gain amazingly well. They are as good as any of the Seymour Duncan humbuckers I've had.

@@milankotevski1663 Thankfully we can have preferences. I am glad you are liking them. IMO, their chimey highs reminds me p90 pups. So, I replaced them with Tonerider Alnico 2 Classics which I believe has a more vintage vibe. Overall SC550II has an unbeatable value as is. I might consider buying another one

When buying my first HB, a SC550, I was trying to decide between the DFB with LAF Roswells and the Paradise Amber Flame with HAF Roswells eventually settling on the LAF pickups. I picked up a CST24T with HAF’s and feel they are the better pickup like I thought they might be. Wish I had picked up the PAF SC550.

Hi Francois, Thanks a lot for the information. I am owning just one guitar with Roswell Pickups. It is a HB ST-62 Hot Rod. My very first guitar (HSS). Well, now I can say that they are okay for the price. But nothing more in my oppinion. The Tesla pickups in your last videos about the SC Custom III active as well as passive pickups sound really huge. I like their tone much more than the Roswell in your other videos. But that is just my oppinion. I am very much looking forward for your planned comparison video, you just announced. By the way. Did you ever think about making any comparisons or reviews with active Fishman Fluence Modern pickups? I'd like to know your oppinion about those. Thanks for your videos and please keep it up. Bye and take care!

Hi Daniel ! The chugs are sounding good with the SC-Custom III passive but I prefer the articulation of the Roswell HAF. I have already been thinking about reviewing a guitar witj Fishman Fluence pickups, I will try and do it before the end of 2024 :)

I have few HB guitars and in most cases I have replaced the Roswell pickups. SC-450Plus - replaced to Toneriders Alnico II Classic ST-62CC - Replaced to Toneriders City Limits The only Roswells that are staying with me are Filtertron-like on TE-90FLT, those are absolutely fantastic and I really enjoy the sound.

I thought Roswell were just an in-house pickup brand for Thomann?

No, you can actually also buy them at Musicstore Cologne, a direct Competitor to Thomann.
