Does anyone know what the neck thickness is like with this guitar compare to the other JA-60s? That is the one thing I don't like about the JA-60s, as they have pretty chunky necks.

They are jazzmaster pickups. Exactly the same as the ones in the classic vibes! I know because I had both. Same output readings! The only difference is the potmeter values.

Gorgeous guitar, but without a rhythm circuit, and most importantly, without a JM-style trem/vibrato, it seems like a regular p90-equipped guitar in a very seductive body.

that is a tough question Kate. I would recommend that you try a bunch of guitars if you can. Find one that you fall in love with and will be inspired to play. The guitar that makes you want to play is the best first guitar you can buy.

Come on guys, hahaha. It actually amazes me how little guitarists in general knows about the tool they use. Not trying to be a smartass here, but those pickups is IN FACT more in line with trad Jazzmaster pickups, the only difference really is that the bobbins are taller wich means more wire and a different tone profile. The trad Jazzmaster pickups are more shallow in construction. All you really need to do is to open the thing and look inside, it's not rocket science really. On another note, P90's does not have magnetic pole pieces but rather two big magnets underneath - with metal screws acting as the conductor (sort of) ... And you can easily spot a P90 if there are just metallic screws popping up from the cover. You can clearly see that the magnets in the Harley Benton Jazzmaster in fact IS magnets, so waddayaknow.
