Conventional theory says to use the brake in procedure in your owners manuals, like vary engine speeds and avoid prolonged constant speed, like express way riding. And that's probably the best thing to do. The shop may have a process of heat cycling the engine 3 times and loading it so the rings seat well. If so it be just fine le that also. At different shop that's how we did it for decades and never once did we have a problem.

The screaming eagle kits use your stock clutch. Even with the 131 stage 4 kit your stick clutch will hold it. U can use the OEM cam support plate and oil pump that's in the bike now. Do you leave the stock "plastic" lifter cuffs in when doing this? What is your opinion of Screaming Eagle parts and the expected longevity of the motor when using these parts as opposed to something like S&S parts that are often manufactured under different manufacturing standards? Also do you ever run into problems with the stock transmission assy when increasing the torque with these stage IV kits? The reason I ask is I have seen a couple of videos where the customer with a big smile on his face starts slamming thru the gears with the new build and blows up the transmission or snapping the rear drive belt while pulling the front wheel up off the ground.
@HarleyDavidsonWizard2 жыл бұрын
Alot of times I reuse the plastic lifter cuffs, its really only if the s&s metal cuffs were up sold at the time of purchase or if the customer specifically asks for them. I haven't seen 1 problem with the plastic lifter cuffs so reusing them isn't a problem for me. Sportsters have had a plastic lifter cuff since 04 and LS chevy engines have plastic lifter cuffs so that's how I think about them. But with either option, metal or plastic I havent seen A single cuff related problem come across my bench. As for how I feel about s&s engine kits vs screaming eagle engine kits is a tough question because 95% of engine kits we install / work on are screaming eagle and so percentage wise I see many less s&s equipped bikes and also less s&s failures. I'm not super fond of screaming eagle "bigger bore" cylinders that's 117 twin cam engines I'd stay away from. And the same cylinder technology is used in the M8 screaming eagle 128/131 kit. But they seem to do much better. If it were me spending the cash I'd use s&s thicker wall cylinders + pistons and I like how s&s makes there cams and cams plates and oil pumps better so I'd buy the s&s stuff. But I see the other side of the coin too. Where a customer wants to keep warranty and possability buy extended service protection and that bacically means screaming eagle stuff for them. And the screaming eagle stuff is cheaper upfront so people like that. Situation dependent. I used to see a lot more trans problems and I don't know if m8 transmissions have gotten better but I rarely see a messed up 3rd gear like we used to. If a belt is tensioned right or tighter for a higher performance engine they can be super reliable and problem free so it all depends on how you use it. I've seen more broken belts on trikes from people admitting to popping/riding wheelies vs broken belts from power.

What Tapered Ring Compressor would I need if I’m putting a 110 kit in my twin cam and what one if I’m just putting my twin cam back with stock rings? Thank.

I'm not sure of the stock 110 bore size off hand. But i normally do 110 piston rings with my thumb nail.

@@HarleyDavidsonWizard Thanks to you. I like to get my bike in order, it is a Road King 96” 2007 model and I got tools as necessary, I enjoy disassemble and fix mechanic problems. Upgrade to 131” is wonderful, what a solid sound. Best regards from Spain

I noticed that the tach/speedo go spin when you turned the biked on, is that on all M8 bikes?
@HarleyDavidsonWizard3 жыл бұрын
Ya. They all do that.

Do you check that the oilers are tightened properly?
@HarleyDavidsonWizard3 жыл бұрын
I do. And honestly haven't come across a set that are loss yet. The internet makes it seem like every set is loose so I've been kinda disappointed to not come across loose oilers yet.

@@HarleyDavidsonWizard it is nice to hear that you have not found it to be a problem... the internet makes it sound like a huge problem. my M8 on my Freewheeler is a fantastic engine. I have been lucky so far. runs great and does not puke out the head breathers like my first M8 bike. I enjoy your videos. keep up the good work : - )
