I have several different styles of motorcycle lifts from the kind that lift up the rear wheel using the spoils, to scissors Jack’s, this type of Jack. I find this one the least used one in my shop. I just don’t trust it to secure the bike because it lifted both wheels off the ground. And the jacking mechanism and handle are in the way for working on whichever side it is on. I would sell mine for 25 bucks and I’ve only used it three times, I’ve had it for about 15 years

My first Harley-Davidson was a 1977 Dyna Low Rider the first year of the Low Rider only back in 1977 although it resembles the 80" Shovel head it was only a factor 1200. The EVO motor was one of Harley-Davidson’s best motors.

dynas didn’t exist in 1977.

@@elliottsmith10 well you’re correct I should’ve said my 1977 Lowrider was the new model shovel head Harley came out with.
@elliottsmith103 жыл бұрын
@@paulreed1008 no, it wasn’t. dynas have rubber mounted engines. which harley started doing in 82 on FXR’s. dynas came around in 91. just because they both have FX in their name doesn’t mean it was considered the first dyna. lmao. now if you meant to say it’s a grandpa of a dyna and the dyna line adapted off it i would get that but call the bike what it is…. lol. a FX superglide.

@@Captainkleen right on that makes more sense. probably one of the coolest shovels to own imo.

@@elliottsmith10 Well on a technical note true, It was the foundation for the Dyna family First Xperimental

The Harley branded jack identical to this one is around $600. I'm about to buy this type wish i had it years ago. Removing the back wheel on a FLHS requires the bike to be lifted at least 500mm off the ground. I would be inclined to secure the bike using a couple of ratchet ties from the shed rafters attached to each side of the handlebars especially if removing the forks.

Thanks for your advice. My bike doesn't have loose objects that can receive crush problems. Surprised yours does.

Stephen Farr but your oil pan hangs down below the frame rails. You really need to be careful to not put jack under it. BTW, nice ride 👍🏻

@@dawidos117 There is no way to go around the oil pan. I got the same bike. any suggestion ??
@dawidos1174 жыл бұрын
Eric Phan there are adapters you put under frame rails to protect your oil tank. You can’t put your jack under oil pan. You need adapters like that www.harley-davidson.com/us/en/shop/dyna-twin-cam-service-lift-adapter-kit/p/98965-99 or you can make them yourself if you’re skilled enough. Good luck!

The left side bar is resting on the oil pan/oil pan protector and I was told just today the bike will fall over if you lift it up with this jack. I have the fxdl lowrider. Can I just do what he did or is it dangerous?? I already know the answer damnit!!!

Have you tried rotating the bike 180 while on the lift?

Possible misleading title--this jack is from SCA, not the actual jack that can be ordered at our local Harley dealer, correct?
@danielselby80014 жыл бұрын
Harley sell jack adapters for $40.00 au to clip to the frame of the bike for dynas as the frame is not Level and so you don't damage the oil pan.

The problem here in the United States is the adapters are always on back order and I have a 05 Harley Dyna Wide Glide with the 88 Twin Cam and the oil pan protector is in the way of sliding jack under in right location. I want to finish my project of putting a 09 Fat boy Crome rim I mounted a 130/80/R17 tire on and bought a new Softail Custom fender to complete it. The skinny 21” tire I believe changed to a 17x3.5 rim and a wide tire with the Softail Custom fender will make the front suspension have a better ride and look and it will be a one of a kind look I will keep my factory parts as the bike came with a limited number match paint job and getting the right Harley Yellow and black flames with red accents around spots of flames will be my only challenge to finish it.

He is raising the bike up via the oil pan and doesn't realize it so I'm wondering CAN I DO THAT TOO??? I was just told it will fall over ...

It’s to bad the newer Dyna 88 Twin Cam models like my 05 Harley Wide Glide EFI can’t be lifted by that jack unless you bought the adapters from Harley Davidson I cannot find a regular motorcycle jack to lift the Dyna twin cam 88 because there is a oil pan protector we’re you slide the jack under and the HD adapters have been on back order for awhile now. I have the parts for modifying my front tire and fender using a 09 Fat boy Crome rim and I mounted a 130/80R/17 tire on and I have a new Softail Custom fender for it but still looking for a jack to lift my bike to finish my project. Many people like the skinny 21” tire on the Wide Glide but I want more tire up front and believe it will ride and handle better.
