Thanks for posting this. My 2003 Sporters carb is just like yours. Mine idles just fine and even does great with the choke on but as soon as I give it throttle it dies. I've cleaned all the jets check the flow to carb, but can't figure what the problem is.

+Ride AMAP (As Much As Possible) Not sure what is going on with your carb, but it sounds like something is wrong on the vaccum side, it might not be opening the slide when you give it gas.

Ride AMAP make sure pump squirts gas and slide goes up when cracking the throttle! May need new slide?

Im having same problem, was riding for 10 miles then outta nowhere the bike started to backfire & stall an sounded like shotgun blasts, i limped it home checked the plugs & were fine now im thinking fuel problem on my 03 xl1200

Yeah. On a 4 year old video. Spring is to keep cable tight, apparently vibration on harleys breaks cables frequently.

I just bought a full carb rebuild kit for my 91 softail today from the Harley dealership in Modesto ca. It was 48 bucks and came with manifold gaskets too

Push/pull throttle cable set up uses a spring on the push cable

@@jerrynunley9956 Yeah I was going to say the same thing. Even the new injected bikes have that spring for a reason. Lets just say I am glad to see someone wrenching on their own bike yet this one made me cringe a few times.

this was a way scarey video... that old fitting will just twist out with vice grips. I was waiting for the whole carb to get destroyed when you put it in the lathe lol
