Have to say Josh, of all my subscribed content yours is always the first I look at with my interrupted Internet connection. That aside, Re, the XS650 issues. It's definitely carbs. If nothing has changed to the carb settings or the air filters since it ran last. Then the problem could be an air leak from either of the vacuum points on the manifolds, (check hose or plug). If all seems ok, the carbs have to come off again. Check everything is in place and all galleries are clear. I presume the air filters are the same. If not, tape off a third of the filter with electrical tape and try again. Wish Jenna good luck.

Don’t know if you look back at the comments days after the video was posted and they may have already fixed it but, the Xs sounds like it’s having spark breakdown under load. Less load=smooth running usually gets fixed with new plugs, plug gap, or proper voltage to coil. My 650 used to start doing the same thing when my stator went out and my battery was low on voltage. Nice video!

I've never been a fan of HD, but the two bikes I'd own from HD are the Switchback and the Sport Glide. You are starting to get a real put together sport touring cruiser on your hands. I'm digging it! Maybe get rid of the tassel, or replace it with a functional item like a get back whip? Otherwise, its a sweet ride!

haha, I've been there. I had some leather throwover bags on my old Softail. Then one day they flew up and hit the back of my head at 70mph. Luckily, I was able to catch them and coast stop before they, or I, hit the pavement. Used a boot lace to tie them back on until I got to a gas station and could buy some nylon rope.

A few years ago I helped a friend install some after market saddle backs on there Kawasaki Vulcan 650S. Went on a trip to the Tail of the dragon and back and in the last mile before getting home they heard scraping and turns out one of the bolts holding the bag onto the frame snapped. Had no way to save it while on the road so just road home the last mile with it scraping the whole way. I replaced the bolt and never had an issue since.

Josh those latches were a common issue with age. If you replace one I would suggest replacing both.
@derekp26744 жыл бұрын
Maybe I was lucky, but I never had any problems with the latches on the 1990 FXRT that I used to own. I don't know if that used a different latch design to the one in the video. I expect I would always have ridden with the bags locked shut. If I remember correctly, my bags also had folding stays to limit their opening, so the lids sat horizontally when open. I also had a couple of old TourGlide pattern saddle bag liners for them. I also liked these bags because they can be used to carry or store a crash helmet, unlike other Harley bags.

Prolly leaned out carbs. try putting a partial obstruction over the air intake & see if it helps. The partial restriction of the airbox & filter is needed on stock jetting. just a guess based on my old sv650 carbs or float height.

About the 650, if she changed pods and the exhaust is not stock. Change the jetting to a 45 pilot and a 140/142.5 main. Bet it'll run way better. That's the jetting I ran here in the Caribbean, pretty much the same dry heat/air I'm guessing?
@bigmikeh58274 жыл бұрын
That sucks. I had this type deal happen to me yesterday. Rode my Deluxe 45 miles south to Nashville to give a blood donation. Pull into Red Cross parking lot and go to put my riding gear into the bag and..... wide freaken open!!! Lost one glove of my $90 gauntlets that I keep in the bag for just in case. Inside that glove was my extra pair of clear riding glasses. Had this happen on a trip to Texas last year. Lost my rain gear on that one. I love using take off parts on a build. Did that on my 91 fatboy. Spent a fraction of the cost. Keeping it weird in Tennessee.
