Like the explanation for using 3 hold down points AND the use of paper on the table. Nice job !

Don, thanks for sharing what you have learned. You set a great example of how to mentor. Its important to make sure the skills survive.

The owner of the practical machinist forum had his main forum clown slander me as a dope addict, criminal, not qualified, I corrupt youth. The owner of that forum allegedly smells like spoiled hamburger, eats maggot infested chicken, a short fat Southern Racist leader they call "Stink Finger". Thanks for the encouragement!

Thanks Don. You make it look easy.

I really do not find this hard, but I have decades of experience with this model line, I even bought a new one in 1977.

Looking good Don. That is always how it goes machining some parts. Thanks

Yes, working on old broken things, set up takes the most time, thanks!

You've really turned that old mill into a slick running unit! Thanks for mentoring all of us!

Me, the unlikely mentor with a bad voice and attitude, I have to think about that. The US fake internet machinist industrial complex claims I am corrupting youth!

Paper shims are cool, I have some plastic shim stock I like for doing things like that. Paper is not slippery though. I think I learned something here. Cheers

I lost sound on a portion of the video, I will better demonstrate the use of paper on the next video, thanks!

Reminds me of my old 65 XLCH that dropped the transmission at the drag strip 🥺 The underside of the case looked like Frankenstein welded it up 😇 Campy the H-D man at old New Orleans Harley 😎
@DonDyarprecision12 күн бұрын
Hi Campy, the main problem pointed out at the factory was the 50% gear contact on 2nd and 3rd gears.

@DonDyarprecision Terribly sorry was referring to the Ace mechanic Campy at Harley Davidson of New Orleans circa 1986 . After building the Sportster motor I asked Campy how can I reduce the 12: 1 compression '' Go steal a stop sign and make base plates for the cylinders '' 🤣 !

Happy days Don, nicely done, buddy. I only just noticed those outer cover holes are plugged. Are they next on the agenda? Thanks for sharing and best wishes to you and yours Ralfy
@DonDyarprecision12 күн бұрын
The outer cover screw holes were not drilled at the factory except 2. The cover is aluminum and held with only 3 screws but they obviously were going to use the tin primary cover at a later point. I just might go ahead and drill those holes so that option is available if I cant get the aluminum cover to seal with only 3 screws right down the center holding it on.

@DonDyarprecision I have the tin primary on my Shovelhead, not the same obviously, but same era I think?

It looks like the bosses are casted for the 58 - 69 primary cover. I remember an old timer years ago had his aircraft / motorcycle weldor friend build up the bosses with weld & he layed it out & drilled & tapped the holes for the late model cover on a Bridgeport. I was impressed. Now I'm wondering why he had the bosses built up if they're already there. I thought he said it was a 57 case with only 2 bolts.

My brief time in a machine shop. I would see guys take the wingnut on the clamps & break out the vice grips. 😖
@DonDyarprecision11 күн бұрын
That would be a bad mix, thanks!

I guess if you did not have a machine shop you could lap that on a piece of plate glass with some compound. What’s your opinion on that? Thanks I enjoy watching you work .

Hi, this one has too much warp, it has to be cut in a machine, thanks for tuning in.
