Harley Davidson Makeover | Custom Dynamics

The rear lighting on the Harley Davidson touring bikes obviously meets the minimum DOT requirements, but, I don't feel safe with the stock set up. Check out this week's video as I show you how I transformed the rear lighting set up on the Street Glide ST with several Custom Dynamics products to dramatically improve visibility day or night. @hdvibe how did you mount the license plate frame after you removed the bullet light assembly? Was there holes in the fender for you to install the plate frame? If so, what license plate frame did you go with?

@mryates12000 There are holes in the fender where the original lighting was removed. The turn signal eliminator bracket mounts right back into those same holes using the supplied bolts. The license plate outer frame with the LED is part of the kit as well. It just screws into the other eliminator bracket with the supplied screws. A 3m wheel for drill works great also and won’t mar paint/clear if done right. It makes some dust but rips right through the stubborn tape or decals too.

Great tutorial, my saddle bag turn light not the same illuminate with stock when select to left or right, is it possible to bypass the module it means connect to stock wiring directly?

Are the blinkers indicators on the dash blinking so fast after this?? Thank you

If you put LEDs on a bike for the first time, the dash blanket indicators flash fast. I'd that happens, you need to have the BCM learn that LEDs are on the bike. To do so, put the ignition in run mode...then turn on the hazard flashers. While the hazards are on...turn off the ignition to off and let the hazards flash for 2 or 3 minutes. After that turn the ignition back to run and turn off the hazards. Then turn ignition to off. After that try the turn signals again and see if dash indicators flash normal. If not repeat. If so the BCM now knows there are LEDs on the bike. This procedure is also in the Custom Dynamics instructions for reference. Thanks for the question. Thanks John for watching and commenting. I believe Custom Dynamics has a kit that will work on the Ultra Fender. The ST fender is basically the same except the original license brake is below the light vs above the light. I'd suggest checking the Custom Dynamics website or give them a call. FYI, wd40 works the same as 3m adhesive remover and we all have wd40 on the bench. Did my 17 sg with custom dynamics to the rear, looks great and lots of compliments..

Thanks John for watching and commenting. Many people do eliminate all the reflectors on the Harleys. I eventually do the same but take the opportunity to replace the fork and latch reflectors with Custom Dynamics LED Lighting specifically designed to replace them. I like to have my bikes lit up as much as possible without looking crazy so I can be seen. Being seen a split second sooner can be the difference between having a good day or a really bad day. Is there capability to remove the turn signal function from the filler lights so they only are setup for run & brake illumination? I’d rather only have Amber sequential low profile turn signals on the bags and nothing else

Nice video, but why didn't you use the rear light with bottom window for your license plate? is a lot easier and works fine. oh by the way the bolts come standard with a ring with the rear light. why use the old ones? About the turn signals, I like also the PROBEAM® 1157 Led turn signal inserts. Very easy to instal. it just depends on your preference. thanks for all the images shared and the effort taken. Thanks Charles for watching and commenting. I didn't use the rear light with bottom window as the turn signal eliminator kit license frame has LEDS built in to illumination the plate. This was the recommended configuration by Custom Dynamics when the order was placed. Since the rear dog bone light on the ST are run and turn only from factory, the only way to get brake on them when adding LED is to add the triple play module. So I decided to go the route I went by adding the filter lights and the sequential bag lights to get much more light on the rear of the bike. The one I used has no illumination due to the fact the signal delete kit with the curved license plate bracket has LED in it to illuminate the plate.
