That is their issue, they don't have a good entry level bike leaving new riders out to dry. While Indian focused on that first with the Scout and FTR. One a new rider gets on a different brand how do you get them back?

Oh God, I was a "Blockhead Fan-Boy" just like that guy when we met riding out to Two Sisters lounge in Kissimmee with the guys from Orlando Harley South. That's the effect you have on people brother. I did this same ride on Sunday, and was totally impressed with this bike. Now I’m 5-7” and they put the low reach seat on for me, didn’t have my feet flat but did feel comfortable with the bike. Currently ride a 2014 ultra limited..

I’ve been looking around at the Tiger 900 Rally Pro, 890 Adventure R, and the AT as a third bike bike option for off road. Never thought I would even consider the Pan Am but after this review, I just might. Nice to see Harley going in new directions (good call). That power! Wow! Good to hear your comment on the CG. I was worried about that and cost. Sounds a little steep but not far off from either a GS or the big Tiger. 👍

Tiger 900 is about 9/10 size of AT, either good or bad depending on your size. AT is good for tall riders.

I am absolutely in love with this motorcycle. The idea of being able to "tour" on something other than a bagger (and still a Harley) is pretty great. The biggest issues I've had with baggers, although I love them, is that they tend to sacrifice real performance both in rider position and size/weight. Yeah, they're great for crushing highway miles, but when you come across a surprise twisty, I'd love to be able to hit it more aggressively (i.e. more fun). I've shy-ed away from the BMW/KTM adventure tourers because of styling and just the culture around them. I'm an HD guy, through and through, and the opportunity to rip one of these things across these great United States is pretty appealing.

Don't expect much in the way of power kits for this engine, it is pretty optimal as it is. I'm sure there will be aftermarket cans to help it breathe a bit better, but all of the tuning will be software updates.

The problem with a lot of ADV bikes, including this one, is that there are way too many electronics to play with. Curious to see how the electronics hold up after years of harsh miles. In spite of that, this is the most interesting thing to come out of Harley in a long time.

Not really. They would have to knock of 250cc and still find another 45-60 hp. Honda Fireblade RR/R is 999cc with 215hp. If they could find another 40hp in this motor they could go after the KTM SuperDuke tho.

I rode one last weekend when the overall Demo Fleet came through. I was VERY surprised how much I liked it! Wasn't sure on the looks when it was first announced, but honestly I like its looks better than the BMW GS. I've already got a chopper, touring, and little Ducati sport bike....I could totally see this added to my garage!
