Harley Davidson Pan America Offroad In The Colorado Rockies

Continuing the 'Project: Forest Service'. Today we're riding FSR 119, or Geneva Creek Road. The Harley Davidson Pan America should be able to challenge Geneva Creek, and hopefully make it all the way to the top.
The trail spurs off from Gaunella Pass Road and is located a little over an hour from the Denver Metro.
I really like this trail for the views at the top, and also its gradual progression in difficulty. The base area is standard FS surface with some potholes and wash-boarding. As you continue riding, the surface becomes more populated with exposed rock. As you near the top, loose rock and steep pitches make for a bit more challenging of a ride.

I went and rented a Pan America at Eaglerider in Vegas last week and rode it through Red Rock Canyon. I loved it so much, I'm excited to buy one this spring. You make it look easy, and it's nice being able to learn good lessons from you so I don't have to learn them later. I'm glad I'm not the only one nervous about that jiffy stand.

Frank! Good chatting! Yeah, I didn't *think* I'd ever actually drop the bike like that...but, lesson learned. That section was steep and loose. I'd like to go hit it again to work on some skills. It was a really nice day for a ride. Colorado did not disappoint. Losing so much footage wasn't great, but the day was a win overall.

Really fun watching. I’m a bit surprised you adventure alone in such steep terrain though. I’d feel a lot more comfortable with a riding buddy in the event something we’re to happen that would strand you.

Hey Stew, you may have a point…but for the most part I’m figuring it out as I go. My riding buddy from last year had an “incident”, but he’s good to go this year. I’ve also met a few folks, so hopefully this year will be safer and more fun! Ride safe!!

If you have a few minutes before hand, look for a few videos out there that go through some of the different ride modes. With the semi-active suspension, changing ride modes not only changes the engine mapping, but the whole characteristics of the bike.

I don't know about video, but a friend accidently deleted a stack of pictures from his card. He took it to a shop that had software to revover all the deleted pictures. Only works if you havent formatted the card and you haven't kept putting more data on or filling up the card.

Dennis - Personally, I'd say they're a bit hot/heavy for summer. I've used them for spring/fall mainly. Ride Safe!

That is a Garmin ZumoXT. I had to install the Touratech GPS bar to get a mounting location for it (touratech-usa.com/store/GPS-Mounting-Bracket-Above-Gauges-Harley-Davidson-Pan-America). The can also be used with a QuadLock system if you would prefer a phone.
