Aside from horsepower, carbon fiber wheels enhance the performance of acceleration, gives your bike better braking, and better handling! Follow up video going over those soon! (be sure you're subscribed, huzzah)

No bike difference in power on dyno with the carbon wheels. But I could like to see the time it takes to accelerate, think with the lower mass it is a faster movement, there for faster. Are you with me??
@2WheelsSometimes12 ай бұрын
Thanks Chris for swapping out the wheels and dynoing the same day. Something that power charts don't show, that some dynos can show, is acceleration in time. Is your dyno able to do that? Because many people don't know that you end up accelerating and decelerating quicker than stock, and it changes handling a lot. I do trackdays, and have a set of carbon rims, the difference is quite a lot. Especially on track. However, I do have to change my riding style for both the track and the street, the bikes handling is that much different. You actually need to readjust your suspension and chassis. It must change a cruisers handling dramatically.

I'd be curious to know if the ride is stiffer and how it handles potholes.
@fringeparnell92722 ай бұрын
Carbon wheels don’t have enough rotational energy to make a perceptible impact but what they will do is change how they affect centrifugal forces and how icy force it takes to change direction. No one in the Streetbike Performance world change to them for a power increase. It’s all about handling. And An Ali Dymag wheel is the same weight or lighter than a Carbon. Kinda surprised you even brought up the more horsepower suggestion but, hey it proved the point. ✌️

In terms of horsepower science, I'm curious doesn't the dyno record time the pull takes for the programed RPM sweep? as far as the different wheels/weight differences, could you push😊 16:16 the rotational mass aspect to a point of same horsepower but "getting there quicker" asking this from more of a drag racing standpoint, I also watch a lot of drag racing and every part of their speed is about weight balance and suspension. Also praying for everyone affected by the hurricane!

I’d be curious to see an acceleration time say from 60 to 90 I feel like that would be a better performance metric. Just listing to the pulls it seems as though the carbon fiber wheels went through the rev range faster than the stock wheels. It could have just been the edit in the video but definitely seemed faster, and more consistent in the sound.
@BlockheadMoto2 ай бұрын
We'll have to put that to the test!
@AEO4292 ай бұрын
@@BlockheadMoto the more I think about it the more it makes sense that the numbers didn’t change. Because you have done nothing to add power you just subtracted weight. You also may have to play with the ranges in which you time. Maybe 60-90 isn’t where the time gap is, maybe it’s 30-60 or maybe you can see it from 20-100. You guys are smart individuals, I’m sure you will definitely find where the benefits are if any are present. Btw I’m happy to see a response on any comment here. I’m glad you are all safe!

It's basically the same effect of a lightweight flywheel, and also a couple extra things. Less weight means acceleration and braking performance improve. It also means that the suspension can more easily keep the tires in contact with the road. I'd imagine there's less effort through the handlebars for corner transitions. More power, though? Nope. Just better use of the power it had already.

Isn’t there a way that the dyno can measure how quickly it accelerates not just the power?
@brandonmacon33172 ай бұрын
Like the Bike from Thrashin that has carbon wheels.
@bradlewis80362 ай бұрын
The extra weight could be both, a pro and a con. I see it that way because the more weight is requiring more muscle to get the wheels turning. However the pro could be that once the wheels are turning less restrictive force when turning is applied to the vehicle. Which helps carry the vehicle through the turn. Those are my opinions.
@bradlewis80362 ай бұрын
And application to climbing hills also. I see it as more weight gives more, it is a tiny amount. But more kinetic energy towards helping the motorcycle climb hills. And kinetic energy is energy in a certain direction.
@bradlewis80362 ай бұрын
It depends on where the bike is being ridden. You know the road make up. What’s the area more so known for. Lots of hills, more turning, more stop and go, and all of the affecting different conditions of travel. My thoughts.
