Harley Davidson Road King Road-trip, storms and ride one of the most frightening roads in California

In this video, I am riding out on the Road King to Southern California and hope to avoid a storm heading my way and avoid ice or worse, which could lead to road closures. If I make it to Southern California I am going to ride the Ortega highway which is known to be one of the most frightening roads in California for motorcycles. Join me on this adventure.

I’m in Lake Elsinore and use hwy 74 every day go to to work in San Juan Capistrano, it’s a nice road but right now to much construction going on. Love all your videos bud!! after seeing your road king I went out and got my self one too 😂 but an older model. Stay safe out there bud!

@@CageFreeMoto I’m from Nashville, TN. A recent CA transplant told me about Ortega. The road isn’t in great shape now but those turns! Terrific! Beautiful views. If you go again, make sure you stop at the Lookout Roadhouse! Killer overlook view, good food and a nice biker hangout.

I have ridden Ortega Hwy a couple of times. It is a nice shortcut from Inland to the Coast. Hell’s Kitchen was a fun place to stop prior to the fire that burnt it down. I recall some erosion and other places where the road just caved in. So-Cal, there is always commuter traffic everywhere. Unfortunately, the State is decades behind and reminds me of the old saying, “you can’t get there from here”. I prefer gauntlets and of course love my heated grips. Having chaps and lower fairings helps. Stay safe

Very true about the SoCal traffic everywhere. I agree with heated grips and are now on the top of the list along with chaps. I have a pair of gauntlets however to bulky for me. So, it would be worth it to search for the right pair for me. Thanks for the info and advice! Take care and stay safe!

Man, I rode to Buena Park on Friday the 10th and got my butt kicked. 8hrs of constant rain and slooooow traffic, Yup the Grapevine was cold. Never ridden the Ortega Highway but we are itching to hit it. I came back that Sunday with clear skies cruising at 85 mph until highway 580, then little sprinkles.

Oh wow! I hit the road on the 7th as that was the only day I saw with a small break in the weather. Clear sky till the 580, well at least you were almost home, happy you are safe. I am in SoCal for a few weeks, hit me up if you head back. Take care!

Thanks Joe! Finding the Road King emblem was a challenge, however, once I did I had to ride 1.5 hours to the dealer that had it.

I live about 30 minutes from Ortega hwy In Temecula . it’s a fun ride if you can hit it without commuter traffic. Lots of good riding if you go a little east. Anza Borrego, and Idyllwild are fun rides.

I really enjoyed the calming parts of the video with the beautiful shots of the mountains and outside your parent's place(I think). Those shots combined with the piano were super relaxing. Great ride and great vid as usual.

My rain suit and boot covers, chaps and jacket are permanently in my left saddle bag. Always. I use a bungie cord around my waist to avoid suspenders. Good video. Try to keep the filming to the front of the bike.

A much safer road compared to years ago. More safety rails and barriers. I used to see at least one motorcycle or car over the side once a month that was usually deadly!

Amazing to watch you journey videos. Ive bought a Road King 2017 special from USA a few weeks ago and now im w8ting for him in Ukraine) Unfortunately the enemy doesnt sleep so I hope that I could visit ukrainian mountains on the west of the country)
