Great tutorial as always and also the recommendation . This element of work is on my shopping list but I was unsure as to what make of clutch to choose i.e OEM or after market which you have now answered that question. Many thanks for taking the time to video & edit this film 👍 Ps. I intend to use a quality after market primary case oil SAE 10W40 as the lower viscosity would be better for the clutch in terms of lubrication also clutch operation as opposed to the regular H-D 20/50, any thoughts on this matter please?

That’s great! Glad I could help. As far as oil weight, I would not recommend a lighter weight oil. The primary is a closed oil system. Meaning there is no breather like the motor oil or trans oil. Therefore the oil gets extremely hot and will thin out. Thinner oil could cause the friction plates to prematurely wear. Hope this helps! Thanks for watching and commenting.

I've always thought the clutches on Harley-Davidsons were pretty strong... Course I never put a big bore kit on anything but I don't ride my stuff easy either

The big bore kit and cam upgrade put a lot of stress on an OEM clutch friction plates.

What do you think of ATF in the primary I have heard that Ford ATF makes the clutch grab quicker that's apparently because for design that for their automatic transmissions to be more positive shifts.

Never heard of that before. I would think that would be too thin of an oil but if it works, it works.

@@butlercustoms well I always thought that oil remove is just keeping the chain oil and gear cooling the stator and rotor.. and of course if you need the wet clutch.. I always liked straight 30 weight non detergent
