The problem with EITMS (when it is active) is at a stop you need to give it some throttle to have it come out of active mode before letting the clutch out and trying to accelerate, if you don't the engine may hiccup and could stall.
@DKCustomProducts2 жыл бұрын
Another trick is to slightly let out the clutch, that will get it to come out of active mode. If EITMS is active, releasing the clutch lever to the clutch engagement zone will deactivate EITMS and begin firing the rear cylinder. If preferred, while the vehicle is stopped, customers may benefit from twisting the throttle/raising engine speed slightly just before riding away, which will deactivate EITMS and begin firing the rear cylinder immediately regardless of clutch lever position

On 2 occasions when I left the bike idling on the jiffy stand while I was busy opening the gate to my house, when EITMS kicked in, the bike vibrated so much it fell to the right on the tar surface. Fortunately I have front and rear engine guards so the damage was relatively minor. The entrance to the driveway is slightly cambered. To enable EITMS on my 2008 105th Anniv. Edition FLSTC I have to reflash using my SERT. Since the 2nd bike drop (6 years ago) I have disabled EITMS. Thanks for the scientific approach to analysing and demystifying EITMS.

I just bought a '23 Low Rider S with 2Brothers turnout pipe. The bike was tuned with an SE tuner, which they gave me back (dealer). They never explained the EITMS. Riding around in Idaho traffic at about 40-45 degrees F. The bike starts sounding and running weird. Finally figured out it was rear cyl. deact. Some dude in a big Mercedes is next to me and I was embarrassed. Going to turn it off. Even in cold temps it kicks on. Going to disable it until the firey summer comes. Love the black bike and the sound and looks, but definitely a different ballpark than my Z900. Thanks for the great video.

@stanjohnson80402 жыл бұрын
I think what you really need to measure is the rear cylinder exhaust gas temperature. That would really show how much cooling the EITMS does. I also believe it does a lot more than just reduce felt heat.
@DKCustomProducts2 жыл бұрын
I don't see us taking the time and money to put a heat sensor in the rear exhaust header. Most people do not even use the EITMS feature. Those that do notice that it radiates less heat. We initially thought it was cooling the engine, which is why we did the test....to see how much it cools it. Well, it does not cool it, nor slow down the temp rising (at least in a 5 minute period, and more time than that just sitting, the engine should be shut off). What is the lot more that you think it does, other than reduce the heat radiating off the rear header? Maybe reduce the heat radiating of the rear cylinder fins? Something else?
@stanjohnson80402 жыл бұрын
You state & show in your video that the felt temperature is reduced. So that means that there is cooling going on in the rear cylinder. Since the rear cylinder is not firing and only air is passing through it, the rear cylinder & the exhaust gas temperature is going to decrease. That will help cool the exhaust valve. On twin cooled models the coolant channels only go around the exhaust valve port area. That should also help reduce the coolant temperature. How much I don’t know. You would have to have several more heat sensors at different locations to really be able accurately measure the temperature drops at various locations.
@DKCustomProducts2 жыл бұрын
@@stanjohnson8040 Everything you state makes sense. That is exactly how we were thinking when we did our first EITMS video. We were surprised that the cylinder head temp was unaffected. Also, we did not mention it, but you can see on the PV that we are also monitoring the coolant temps. They were unaffected also. We did NOT measure the temperature of the outside of the cylinder. We did measure the rear exhaust header and it did significantly drop in temp when the EITMS is activated. I am sure with time (more than 5 minutes) that there must be some effect on cylinder head temp. BUT, the EITMS is not made for 10, 15, or 30 minutes of idling. Better to shut the engine down than idles for more than 5 minutes. Coolant temps are most affected by the radiator fans. They do a really good job of keeping the coolant temps in a good range...regardless of whether the EITMS is activated or not.
@rschaerer982 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the informative follow up. Can you clarify one point for me... You said you were looking at the rear cylinder temp sensor which power vision refers to as headT but you called it engine temp in the video which is a different measurement that PV labels ET. My ET readings change fairly slow while my head temp readings change instantly with any changes to wind, throttle, etc. I would think that you would see more of a change in the actual head temp when the EITMS engaged but zip on overall ET. Were you just using the word engine temp as a general term vs specifically relating it to the actual PV labeling? Thanks again for all you contributions. Ron
@DKCustomProducts2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the comment, and kind words. Glad you are finding the videos useful. 👍 Dynojet did a weird thing with the Power Vision. The ET displayed on the PV is the direct reading from the cylinder head temp sensor. The HeadT displayed on the PV is NOT the cylinder head temperature. It is a number that is a result of an algorithm. That is why you can see an instant (split second) change in the headT when you nail the throttle...because it is looking at the MAP sensor, IAT, and other things and can bounce all over the place very quickly. When you think you are looking at your head temp reading...they have been misleading you with their misnaming of the readouts. The ET is the Cylinder head temp sensor. Yes, I know it make no sense....but that is what dynojet did. You may find this video on the ECM and what sensors are what interesting- kzbin.info/www/bejne/ZqfFhZ6Iq6uUbpI

So, can you do a video of using fans to help cool the bike. Like this video but you said you weren’t using the fans in this test. So, does using fans help with felt heat. The wife just started riding a ‘16 Freewheeler. Here in Nebraska this past weekend it got to about mid 90’s and she was NOT liking the radiated heat felt. I’m honestly not worried about the engine getting to hot. I’ve always kinda trusted the moco with knowing how to build a bike that would last. So, this is more about the wife and I bombing around on our bikes on the weekend and trying to mitigate the radiated heat she feels. Thanks guy’s love the products y’all make and the videos are good too.
