Harley Hydra Glide Revival 2024 - I Bought It!!! Little Review and Ride

Ok, yes....I definitely bought the Harley Hydra Glide. It took a couple weeks to get a lowering kit put on it. I'm 5'2 and it fits me perfectly. With my Harley boots I can sit flat footed on it. It handles like a dream for me, no fear! I even took it on the busy highway. I got more smiles on this bike and before... I think it's all the fringe. This bike has got bells and whistles and more bells.... although I have yet to be given a bell... I was told I can't buy my own. I need one to keep the road gremlins away from me...
The bike has a few quirks that I am working through. Come ride with me and I'll explain what those quirks are. Took off today and met up with my brother, Butch, to ride for food. Always a great ride when food is involved.

As a fan of the classic FL bikes, I really like the HydroGlide ICON model, but there are a few things that you can do to make it look more like the actual 1956 FL. You've already done two of them: the white wall tires and the saddlebag crash bars. Almost every photo that I've see of the 1956 FL have those. The other two big things are to replace the stock M8 Heritage 10" mini-ape handlebars with a set of beach bars, and replace the tail light with the "tombstone" style from the M8 version of the Deluxe. If you can afford them, see if you can find a set of dual fishtail exhaust pipes. While the stock '56 FL only had a single head lamp and no turn signals, I believe that both the driving lights and the turn signals were factory options in the '50s. A lot of the photos of the '56 FL I've seen also show a front fender light. Harley doesn't offer one for the M8 Heritage, but there are few front fender trim options available from H-D. I'm also a short rider (5' 6") and have the same issues with toe shifting. I've had a heel shifter on my last two bikes (standard on my old '17 Heritage, added on my current '22 Heritage). Much easier to shift with the short legs.

A set of left side/right side true duals would look GREAT on one of these! I'd also go full out and put white hand grips and round mirrors on it... And I'd have to put a set of Moon Eyes "Saturn" discs in the front wheel. I had a '57 FLHF for years and ended up selling it back in the early 2000s. This one sure reminds me of it!

This bike looks far better in person than the pictures H-D provided. I was afraid (given the pics on H-D's website) that the seat & saddlebags looked a little "Howdy Doody-ish". You know, very 50's plasticy looking, but seeing the bike in person at Steel City Harley, they did a good job. But sorry folks, this bike isn't nearly as good looking as my 1987 1/2 FLST-Special. The Blue & Creme original Heritage Softail. Shes rare.
