Harley Mechanic finds major problem with Road King back in the USA

So I make it back into the USA and take my Harley Davidson to get fixed up, new tyre and a few other things but he finds a major problem with the bike?
I change my mind and make a decision which will change someones life forever !!

Cracked header pipe could be upsetting the computer a bit. Who knows all vehicle's have that many sensors these days . Except my 03 wideglide i think. Keep on keeping on Danny.

The header he's referring to isn't the engine head it's the exhaust manifold that's cracked. They probably broke it when beating on it with a sledge to replace the tyre

I agree. My head pipe broke at the cross over while on a long trip a couple of months ago. Power was still there but it was loud as heck.

Yep. Usually crack at the weld. In a pinch, auto parts store has header wrap and clamps. Been there, done that.

I dont think they meant cracked “head”, probably a cracked “header”, as in the upper part of the exhaust pipe. Thats why you suspected an exhaust leak. I’m sure you probably figured that out already since this was filmed a while ago. Cheers Danny!

I think that little radiator on the front of your bike frame is an oil cooler Danny, keeps the oil cool running through the engine.

Yeah iBoots is like a wholesome & liberated no nonsense geek girl Moto role playing in the so called man's world on YT Going where most men wouldn't go (alone anyway) on their ADV bikes..Boots is a refreshing changeup from the whole slew of YT Harley girl tough rider motto blogs which a 15 minute vlog of watching someone talk to the camera while they ride, 5 minutes is usually more than enough for me.. This million $ Magoo guy is definitely an extended mid -life crisis in the making, Hyper character & kinda funny to a non sensical fault at times, reminds me of Mr Magoo in that '60's cartoon Except this Magoo is a bit less aloof & embraces a lot more semi conscious drama, but like the old Magoo and his humorous dementia being endlessly lost roaming around the block, can't hear or understand a word anyone says, But instead Million$ Magoo is lost in a loop on his motorcycle speaks a form of English thats hard for any anglo to understand, and can't speak or understand a lick of Spanish. At least he's got the Holiday Inn & the Hilton.

Glad you finally were able to get a proper rear tire and get that axle replaced. I think they were telling you that you had a crack in your head pipe, not the head itself. Pretty sure it was from the beating it took when removing and re-installing your slip-on mufflers down in Mexico. Depending on where the crack is, a quick welding job may take care of it.

I've done the ride from San Ant to LA several times on Hwy 10. It's very hot in summer, and boring so I started using Hwy 90 to get to El Paso, it has great bike roads to explore & better scenery if you have time. I can feel Danny's pain.

Danny, I think you'll find the guy was saying your header (one of the down pipes of the exhaust) was cracked not your cylinder head, that's why your bike was sounding so loud. 👍

What you do in the US with a cracked Header just to make do is to roll it to a Muffler Shop and have them Weld a Bead over the crack. Make do. You need to IMPROVISE! UP! OVER! AROUND! THROUGH! OVERCOME! Temp solutions for problems until you can get it to a proper fix.

It sounded like the tech said it was a cracked header, which is the pipe coming out of the head of each cylinder. This would make it sound like a tractor. A cracked head would likely be leaking oil, you'd certainly notice that. Depending on how close to the head the header pipe crack is, it could damage the valves. If it's closer to the bottom of the bike it's really no biggie & is usually a minor noise annoyance.

Danny I don't know if you know it or not but if you have an exhaust leak or a intake on your carburetion you can burn a valve either exhaust valve or an intake valve so I would advise you to have the exhaust leak fixed or intake leak fixed so that you do not have to have your valves done on your head love your many travels looking forward to more future travels

Don't ride a Harley, many of my mates do but I can't ride to save myself, I do like like watching travelling videos though and have been watching your channel for the past year. I also like Itchy Boots, I think that is about it for the motorcycle channels though, oh I was mad into Charley Boorman and Ewan Mcgregor back in their travelling days, how good were they!!!! Anyway, kudos on getting out there matw, I have been through Bolivia, Peru and Argentina, got robbed in Buenos Aires and my mate got glassed just out front of the football stadium in La Boca by a teen who tried to do a runner with his backpack. Parts of Mexico reminded me of some of the beaten tracks I have ended up on in South America and some parts of Asia, great adverntres dude but play it safe :) Thanks for the entertainment!!!!

You have a cracked ‘Header’ not a cracked (cylinder) head, a header is just the start of the exhaust pipe where it comes out of the engine and if it’s cracked it will just be noisy and drop your performance a little. If you had a cracked head the bike (or you) would have serious problems! “That thing” is the oil cooler. Jeez Danny!

The mechanic if I heard correctly said you had a cracked header which is part of the exhaust system Danny it is what is between the 2 pipes it's the crossover it's called a header not ahead if you had a cracked head on your Harley your motor would not run and you would be puking oil like nobody's business so it is a header on your exhaust not a cracked head.

The ride from San Antonio to Los Angeles on I-10 is not very exciting for sure pretty straight and boring 1500 miles. Gas Prices in California will blow your mind I filled my bike up last week it was $7.09 PG. $3.70 cents PG higher than Texas.

Hey Danny just a friendly pass He said a cracked header not head it sounds similar but they are vastly different a header is the front portion of the exhaust that bolts directly to the engine one of the pipes is cracked allowing for an exhaust leak giving you that noise if it was a cracked head you would most likely notice a loss of power it would not feel right it would be sputtering and acting astray your plans to get a 2 into 1 high exit exhaust will solve this problem
