The profound tragedy of this episode is that Bane actually created a legitimately healthy, rehabilitative environment in the Pit for these criminals - far better than anything they get in Blackgate and Arkham - and Harley and Ivy just completely wreck it within a single day of being there lol. Also, Two-Face has some of my favorite lines in this episode lol. "I thought this was a two goon job, that's on me!" and "Let's make this quick, I got a dentist appointment in the AM. Lotta gum work, ya know?"

It's not really a tragedy. You can't create an environment for rehabilitating people by taking away any hope they have of actual rehabilitation which is what Bane did and what ended up causing the riot. At least in Arkham, you can actually get out if they heal you. Both are shitty for different reasons. Both are fucked by the need of the story to have a system that doesn't work.

I see it as a consequence of improper imprisonment. Harley and Ivy were sent to the Pit as punishment for them getting revenge on the Injustice league for what they did to harley rather than because they had issues they needed to work on like the others.

@@minerva9104 I mean Paul Dini did say that they tried to hint at something more going on between them by having them live together and share a bed. But that's pretty much all they could do. Same thing with Renee Montoya, it was confirmed that the woman holding her hand while she was hospitalized in one of the episodes is actually her girlfriend (Paul Dini and Bruce Timm said it was Maggie Sawyer). But unfortunately they weren't allowed to be more explicit than that.

just from the beginning alone I think it shows the difference between Ivy's feelings for Kiteman and her feelings for Harley. Ivy literally gives up her entire freedom without a second thought because she didn’t want to throw Harley under the bus. She knew this would end in her going to prison, possibly dying, all without Kiteman even knowing, and in the end he wasn't even a part in this equation for her. She didn’t think or care that she wouldn’t be able to marry Kiteman in that moment. Harley has always meant more to her than him and I think even down to her “worst fear” being Harley was centered around building up to this moment. I don't think it was an accident that the first thing “Harley” did in her mind was kill Kiteman, was killing the person Ivy was latching onto and attempting to push her feelings for Harley aside for, that essentially it was “Harley” and Ivy’s feelings for her being stronger than whatever she felt for Kiteman and ultimately killing/burning those feelings in the end because regardless of whatever affection she feels for Kiteman, she’s always been In Love with Harley. Harley has always been shown as her first choice.

It gets even better when you remember what Kite Man in Ivy's mind said, that he tried to stop Ivy's biggest fear, Harley, but she was too powerful. Keep in mind that this was during a time where Ivy had ended her and Harley's friendship because she was so hurt over Harley choosing the Joker over her again. I like to believe that what Ivy's mind was showing was implying that she was trying to get over her feelings for Harley by moving on to Kite Man but it wasn't working. She still loved Harley and whatever she felt for Kite Man couldn't break that hold. It's one of the reasons I like how this series handled the romance plot. We're not just supposed to want Harley and Ivy together. We're supposed to want the best versions of them together. Season 1 Harley is not someone who'd be a good romantic partner for Ivy, while end-of-season 2 Harley is.

This is something I noticed even back when these episodes were originally airing and I keep seeing it with every new reaction to them: even the fans who like Kite Man don't seem to think very highly of him. It's always the same exact reaction, thinking he'd be totally cool with a threesome between himself, Ivy, and Harley. I get that he comes across as a dudebro, but the problem is his attraction to Ivy isn't just sexual, and neither is Harley's attraction. Both have genuine romantic feelings for Ivy and want to be with her in that way. That makes things a little more complicated than just sex, and that doesn't even bring up that Harley and Kite Man don't have any attraction to each other either. Heck, Harley doesn't even like him that much period. She just likes that he makes Ivy happy. Like, what do people think would happen? Kite Man finds out Ivy kissed her best friend. He's totally cool with it and then they have a threesome which would be mostly centered around Ivy, and then...what? They just live in polygamy forever after, even though two of the three don't feel any way about each other? Or Ivy stays in a relationship with one of them while the other remains her sidepiece? Which doesn't fit Ivy's character at all and would hurt at least one of them emotionally since, again, Harley and Kite Man aren't just attracted to Ivy sexually.

I think people naturally tend to assume that since the show is fairly comedic it must be a straight out comedy, where every situation is played out for humor and every character acts in whatever way is most funny. Kiteman in particular is presented as always being the butt of the jokes, so I can kinda see where people get the idea from, but yeah, it does sorta completely overlook all the very big thing's he's done to show he genuinely cares about Ivy, like camping out by her grave for months or trying to steal that engagement ring for her.

@@Wolf6119 And it's weird that people would assume its straight out comedy when even season 1 had tons of serious moments and plot points that weren't played at all for laughs. Harley's friends all leaving her. Her family betraying her. Ivy seemingly dying. Harley leaving Joker for good. I suppose the difference is Kite Man hasn't really had that many moments that weren't played off as jokes. Him getting upset at Ivy for being embarrassed of him and the dinner with his parents are the only big ones that are really coming to mind right now.

Like at (SPOILERS) the wedding, when he’s giving his vows and talking about how he wants them to live this perfect suburban life; I have no idea what convinced him Ivy wants that. She didn’t even really like the engagement ring he worked so hard to steal for her. At the end of the day he loves her but seems to think she is or could become a different woman, the kind who wants to settle down. When in reality she always seemed pretty stressed out by the idea of marriage and settling down, and agreed to a lot of that it seemed like largely for his sake, thinking she couldn’t keep him otherwise. Kite Man and Ivy both deserved a better match, honestly.

@@mlgnerd13 i that ivy should have cheated on kite man. She regrets it and confess to him. He forgives her and they get married. Season 3 should be them learning that they aren't compatible but both are afraid to ask for a divorce. Ivy would cheat again and then kite would break up with her. Harley would then try to be with her but gets reject because she needs to fix herself and Harley was the reason for break up. Season 4 would have them not have a strong relationship but it slowly gets repaired

@@bryzantine1571 chile ita a comedy show not an entire romantic plotline, theres no reason to drag out the tension between harley and ivy if they have been flirting since season one i doubt the supercorp type plotline you are referring too is healthy for them they work better with eachother, any arc similar to what you are talking about that would work for a normal character would probably just hurt them in the long run what im saying is that they dont need 2 seasons of angst, they've been through enough
