I feel like the edginess is just gonna be a phase for him until Jason shows up, so the writers can have fun exploring his character development and second hand embarrassment. It makes sense for night wing to be dark and broody in at least one point of his life before he comes into his own, so I'm really not surprised that the show decided to take this direction. Frankly, I'm just happy to see him!

@@noctuaryfahy1509 in 80s comics nightwing's emo phase was caused by rebelling against batman and the idea of being a sidekick. Jason takes up the mantle of Robin shortly after he leaves. I think the Harley Quinn show is following that plot. But you're theory isn't misplaced one of the reasons Dick returns to Gotham and reconcile with his family is because Jason is presumed dead. I hope we get Redhood next season for 2 reason 1)Joker is a semi wholesome stepdad in this universe. That's gonna be real wild moment. 2) the Supervillains tend to be the protagonist/allies of this series and Red hood straight up assassinates them.

Wanna know the most hilarious thing I find about this portrayal of Nightwing? I just seen a Tiktok comic dub of Harley and Ivy in this show’s officialcomic with Nightwing being asked for a favor by Ivy and Harley with them both thirsting over him. They didn’t comment about his voice there so if we assume the comics are canon, his serious voice is just recent and something he’s doing to seem more cool and adult to Bruce! XD That’s sorta adorable, he’s trying to look cool and capable to his dad.

I’m glad this show is doing this, it really brings out peoples opinions in the comment sections about what they think Dick and the bat fam is like lol. The bat fam is full of the most mischaracterized and misunderstood characters ever, and I mean by the fans. Obviously writers and adaptations do it too, but the fans my gosh, y’all have some of the absolute worst takes on the bat characters, largely boiling them down to certain characteristics like “the smart one”, or “the edgy one”, “the brawler”, lmfao so superficial, surface level, and demeaning. I had to vent because I hate the way most fans see these characters, it makes me want to throw up.
