Notice that Bruce said his Dad wanted to take him to the shareholders meeting? I think this implies that Bruce’s Dad was more business man than family man and most likely convinced by Alfred and/or his wife to take Bruce to the movies. Bruce is so focused on the death of his parents that he doesn’t remember what his parents were like.

@@illbadger2076 like you said. In MOST stories. This show is known for pretty much being unpredictable and flipping common DC elements around. I’m not saying that they were bad. More like unintentionally neglectful. I feel like Thomas did love Bruce, but wanted him to focus on business instead of being a normal kid. And I feel it was actually Alfred who convinced Thomas to take him to the movies and he blames himself for their deaths. He didn’t tell Bruce this because he was afraid he would lose Bruce too. Bruce bringing his parents back from the dead is something I never thought I'd see him do and I am excited for it. This is "Batman-Acting-Out-Of-Character" done right. Fun fact: Whispering is actually louder than both talking and talking quietly because the whisper voice creates a higher frequency which is easier to hear.
@adamb892 жыл бұрын
Depends on range and obstructions. Higher frequencies dissipate faster than lower ones. It's called attenuation, and is basically when sound waves are converted into other forms of energy as a result of interacting with the medium. Lower frequencies are absorbed less than high frequencies. They're also less reflective--high pitched noises will bounce off walls and be mostly constrained to the room, while low pitched ones will penetrate easily. It's why you can easily hear the bass track from your neighbor's stereo through several walls, but not know what's being said. So whispering might not help you conceal your conversation from someone 2 feet away, but it will absolutely help from across the room.
@micheljavert59232 жыл бұрын
That actually explains something. Years ago, I shared an office with a guy whose girlfriend/fiancé would sometimes come in to sit and talk with him. And whenever they wanted to say something confidential/private they'd start whispering. I never actually minded them talking when I was working because I could just block it out (small value add of public education). But whenever they would start to whisper it was like it cut through everything and instantly grabbed all of my attention. Eventually I just asked them to speak normally because I only ever listened to what they were saying when they were whispering. They stopped having chats in the office after that, ah well

A lot of people are saying Batman woulnd't give into temptation in order to bring back his parents but... we're not dealing with Batman, we're dealing with Bruce Wayne. We've gotten far enough in Media in Batman's history to know he uses the costume as a means to "Not feel" anything when he's being his alter ego, or alternate personality. Batman has a will of steel, a skilled fighter and a tacticians mentality even when in battle. Bruce Wayne HOWEVER is very little of those things. Bruce at this point in his life has gotten to where the costume doesn't just stay a costume, it's his means to be the Symbol Batman the Hero. When he's Bruce Wayne, he's physically and mentally vulnerable because he doesn't have the mask to hide from his own face. On top of that Bruce isn't just dealing with long term trauma and guilt, he tried raising a family with his bat orphans which doesn't really go well, he almost died in the Joker's tower, was in a coma, had his body broken TWICE by Bane, went through a bad break up with Catwoman and he's realizing his age is catching up to him. Not to mention I think he's also dealing with the fact that Joker and Harley have had more development as people and in some ways are doing more good for Gotham then he ever did and being a super hero isn't pushing down his trauma like it used to. Yes he has denied using the Lazerus pit before because it is a LITERAL DEMON HOLE that corrupts anyone that uses it with immortality. So he sees Frank and gets an idea in the midst of his midlife crisis and break up with Catwoman. This is the most human we've seen Bruce Wayne since the Animated Batman 90's show, where the show explored his trauma to a degree but never really showed him truly dealing with it. This is why i like this show, we're seeing Bruce Wayne at his most human aspect in modern media as a bonus to an awesome Harley Quinn show.

This might honestly be my favorite episode in the series. I had to watch it twice back to back. This was an amazing look at both Bruce and Harley. The fact that Harley was able to even explore Bruce's memories was clearly because he subconsciously wanted her to. She saw a hurt, traumatized 8 y/o and decided to help him, and he clung to that. Bruce trained to protect his mind from psychic probing, and the reverse repression shows that that kinda holds true even in this continuity, even kicking everyone but Harley out of his mind. That innocent, childlike part of him wants so badly for someone to save him, that at the moment she showed the human kindness to cover his eyes and try to shield him from that pain, he held on to her. And it's not that he didn't realize the risk, or that part of him was naive. He was just hurting that badly. And the fact that Harley freaking Quinn decided that this poor kid needs therapy, and I'm going to give it to him just sent me. Because even after she found out he was Batman, you can tell, that when she looks at him, she doesn't see Batman any more, or billionaire playboy Bruce Wayne. She sees a hurting 8 y/o boy, crying in an alley.

Honestly all of them work at once. The timeline would be this. The Usher who would've helped Alfred park the Limo got into an argument with his manager, so Alfred just tries waiting for them on the side of the road. The cop pulls him over saying that they're unable to park there, so he would need to park somewhere further away. Meanwhile, an unaware Bruce is being a happy kid, while Thomas got a notice that there was a medical emergency so they needed to rush to the hospital. Unfortunately, no Alfred, so they would need to hoof it. In Bruce's mind, he thought that he was the reason for killing his parents since he most likely went on ahead, and got caught by Joe. Bruce still thinks it's his fault due to childhood trauma and the fact Thomas never mentioned what happened. There was a lot of things that could've happened differently, but the Bruce/Batman we know now was built off the worst possible outcome which is extremely sad.

Not very often you see Batman or Bruce Wayne ask someone else for help. But I thought that was a very lovely moment, where he asks Harley Quinn to help him and she gives him a hug promising to help him anyway she can. I hope in Season 4 he sits down with her for a therapy session and she can help him overcome his demons as well as King Shark too, they need a good therapist after this past season. And the scene before this where she asks for his consent to be his licensed therapist best part of this whole episode. I really do like the slight change to Batman‘s origin. I mean after all, dead parents are Dime-A-dozen in most superhero stories and true it is tragic, but by just a small tweak, by having it be Bruce’s decision to go to the movie AND walk down crime alley, it adds just enough to make it more unique and I hope other stories add this element.

While it was MONUMENTALLY STUPID that Bruce took Frank to his parents instead of vice versa, is it consistent with this version of his character that he'd be blinded by the possibility of finally being free from decades of pain? Honestly, the clips in isolation show that the writers were trying to sincerely tackle the topic of Batman's psyche, of what makes him Batman. And I appreciate the effort to humanize Harley and deepen her character by showing how she reacts to those revelations. Certainly better than what the live action films have done with her, even in The Suicide Squad. Remembering her history as a psychologist and capitalizing on that for storytelling opportunities and character exploration? I am VERY happy to see the effort.

This calls back to "Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker." In one of the most memorable scenes of that movie, the Joker expressed his disappointment when he discovered Bruce Wayne and Batman were one and the same. "Behind all the Sturm-and-Batarangs, you're just a little boy in a playsuit crying for mommy and daddy!" And in this situation at least, he was right. It just goes to show that despite all the heroic feats Batman has accomplished over the years, he still at times seems like that little boy who never truly grew up and never truly moved on from his trauma.

Though I was never a serial reader of Batman's various series (and thus am not entirely sure), I don't think any of the titles have ever *explicitly* explored Bruce's feelings of culpability. But the implication/understanding has always been that Bruce's entire motivation/character is built around the idea of "never again...no matter the cost." It's actually easier to believe that a man with such an overwhelming sense of guilt and remorse would plot how to kill/disable his "friends"/colleagues (just in case) because he can *never* rest or be at ease, instead of (bordering on Mary Sue) "Batman's always prepared." It reminds me of something Neil Gaiman once said: "...[H]ell is something you carry around with you. Not somewhere you go."

I wonder how mayor Joker will react when he finds out that Batman's zombies are destroying his city. The irony... 🙂 "...and I'm still waiting for my electric car, Bruce!"

So far, this series have characters dealing with their mental health issues in very unhealthy ways, and for a series that mainly focus on Harley Quinn they do serve as great foils to her. With Bruce Wayne, most people would say him going into vigilantism may not be a great way to deal with his Parents Death. Tho appropriating a Super Villian's Scheme so he can Play God is definitely going off the deep end

I love how he felt the need to correct the Mark of Zoro thing. Makes you think that he’s just a really big fan of Zoro.
