If you think the match is slow ,it's because they called the moves in the ring while they wrestled giving it a more realistic look. Today's wrestling is choreographed in advance allowing wrestlers to move faster but also increasing the risk for injury. I prefer the slower but realistic wrestling.

Yep agreed sir. Thats the way I was taught by Golden Boy Jerry Grey. Thats the way I did it for 12 years. And would not here of the shit, " Duh, what do you wanna do out there? " All that planning shit makes it look fake and planned. These guys were 2 of the top 4 wrestlers in the world for a reason. A GD good reason.

@@christopherhughes3381 i had an older cousin that wrestled for 19 years God rest him and that was the way he was taught and wrestled that way..he actually got to get a little sparring i guess you might call it a little work out n practice in i guess you'd say..with ric flair in my little hometown of Etowah Tennessee..it wasnt a show put on for a crowd it was just them two with a few of flairs people that were passin thru on their way to knoxville..he said flair chopped him so damn hard so many times that he coudnt hardly roll out of bed the next day n his chest and i quote looked like he hit me with an iron skillet my chest was black n blue closed quote but he said flair taught him the way to move around in the ring
Rest in peace Harley Race, The Greatest wrestler on God's green Earth

Two days later, Flair will regain the NWA title from Kerry Von Erich. All the more startling to see Flair take the clean loss to Race, less than a year after Starcade 83.

This match was 2 days before KVE would drop the belt back to Flair. I’m sure Harley was there to make sure it was smooth transition between the other two guys. Not only was he a great wrestler, but a politician/ negotiator as well….

2 of the all time greats. These guys and many from that era took great pride in giving fans wrestling clinics making it as realistic as possible. These guys and others from that era were artists in the ring. Unfortunately snowflake fans these days want to see 35 finishing spots in 2 minutes. Snowflake fans aren't interested in slower paced matches and they have no idea how important building a story with great on ring psychology means. The art of wrestling is gone. Very unfortunate. Plus modern fans want instant results and are not smart enough to understand wrestling psychology and how building a story in a match can make incredible matches. Sadly society has destroyed the concept of actually thinking for oneself. Kids today can't comprehend anything that lasts more than 30 seconds.

Just recently realized that early Flair was sort of the anti-Backlund. Instead of being bland and relying of the charisma of the opponent to carry the feud, Flair was the charismatic one, usually going against bland, boring guys with no personality such as Race, Slater, Mcdaniel, Brisco, Valentine, and David Von Erich.
