Good job Captain. Congrats on the transfer and promotion. My Dad was promoted to Engine driver and transfered from Flint Michigan's station 1 to station 7. The food was way better at 7 than as station 1 had crew problems concerning menus and who was doing the cooking. Station 7 overlooked Chevy truck plant 2 on a bluff. Yup, my 6 siblings and I were station brats growing up. Mom would drive us in from our home in the first farm town north of Flint to visit and the crew always treated us kids really nice even letting us sit in the drivers seat or the engine and the pumper. Once a year they'd send all the firefighters kids on busses to see the Detroit Tigers play baseball. Station 7 is now a privately owned residence. My Dad ended up medically retired due to extreme arthritis from winter firefighting. Back then they didn't have self sealing gloves and boots so water would get in at times in the winter. Never a good thing. Do you take your young ones into your house occasionally ?
@CaptainKleeman4 жыл бұрын
Ronald Heit privately owned station! I bet that makes for a cool residence. And yeah we bring the the kids past a few times a year. Did you ever get involved in the fire service?
@ronaldheit1964 жыл бұрын
@@CaptainKleeman No, my Dad was dead set against us kids getting involved in becoming a firefighter. He had PTSD really bad from all the times he was involved in fires where kids and even adults got burned up and other experiences. He also had it from his time in the Navy during WW II. He never talked about that time of bis life. In fact I never knew he'd been in the Navy till I came home from Coast Guard boot camp them Aviation Machinist Mate A school. Back then they didn't have a lot of the safety equipment available today Y'all have today. I can remember when the Scott airpack came out. That was a real lifesaver. They tried to force my Dad and his fellow firefighters to shave their beards which in Michigan's winter weather helps keep your face warm. They claimed the facemask wouldn't seal on the Scott airpack so my Dad and the Union took them to court. The Union bought a clear 6 × 6 smoke chamber into the court room and had my Dad wear one in it to prove their claim was BS. He won so they transfered him to Station 7 as punishment. It backfired on them. He hated working at station 1 as he said it was boot licker central. It was Flints biggest station. A lotta game playing politics he hated. The Station 7 crew were a way better bunch of guys to work with. My oldest brother Mike was a volunteer firefighter up in Alaska. He's 70 know so a few years ago the mandatory retired him. Thank God there's men and women like you who step up and take up the Hose and Ax and fight those fires saving lives. I've always thought firefighters are underpaid. Better these days but still not enough. It's the same with LEO's and Teachers. Underappreciated and underpaid for what you gus do and go thru.

I had many transfers over my career, some promotions, some filling an empty hole that needed to be filled. There was always someone at each assignment that made the job more fun or more exciting and sometimes it was the whole crew that was awesome. I wish I could tell more of the funny stuff that happened but some of the people that were involved are still working and there may be consequences. Lol. I had an awesome 30 year career and wish I could start over and do it all again. Good luck on your new endeavors and stay safe brother.

You would have to section off plots with a solar fence charger and some temporary fencing , and think of the great videos you could make. Changing situations in the workforce is not easy. Even when one is bettering himself , the co workers you leave behind will always be missed. Another great video , thanks for sharing it.

Any rules about growing ginseng right next to a protected forest? A 10-30 year mature rate on it so you can spread it around the property and in a few years have a nice cash crop ready to collect and sell without doing any damage to the trees. Ginseng, mushrooms and timber can be cultivated and harvested in the same areas without any major disruptions to the others giving you a nice supplemental cash now in mushrooms, in a few years in the ginseng roots and long term any high value timber you want to sell off without looking like a clear cut logging.
