I have been working in the landscape world since basically forever. I have hundreds maybe thousands of hours using the Harley Rake. One thing about the angling, I’ve found that it changes the level of the drum overall. When I change from straight to angle push/pulls, I make sure to adjust before I set the rake down. And yea I always use the side wings, a lot of times I change it both directions. Best if used with wings to the machine so you only leave caster tracks, compared with the track loader. I’ve done it both ways and still turns out great.

Get some hockey pucks or very thick rubber and mount it where you want it (on the rails) where you are comfortable, so when you haul it again the Harley can rest on it and not scratch the rails !!! Liked#4

We payed an interesting contractor so harley rake all around our newly built house 7 years ago. He had a Kubota L3940 with the cab. I bought my first Kubota a month later…. But he he did a great job of smoothing out 2-3 acres in preparation for hydroseed. He stopped back several times to check on it and while he was a nice guy, he could talk the paint of a wall.

So jealous of that Harley Rake of yours. And yeah, for a cheap and quick way to remedy the width problem, find out where your weight rides the best on that trailer with that equipment and cut up an old tire, mount that rubber to the rails of the trailer. Then you will always know where exactly to put the equipment for the best trailering.

Brock, I see your trailer rocking back and forth a lot when you loading and unloading. I always set the paring brake on my truck to help stop that. It will definitely take some stress off of your transmission. Might save you a costly repair down the road.

Why did you get a equipment trailer with rails anyway? I can’t think of a good reason especially hauling a skid loader.
@adamluigs8111

You shouldn't have to lift it everytime u get done with a pass unless thiers something in the way. Set your height and go back and fourth you'll get better results

just make you a rack that spans across your trailer a shelf and then you can rest it on that while you transport it.

I was going to suggest setting the harley rake sideways on the front of the trailer with the bucket or forks, but getting in and out to hook up stuff is a little tricky with those doors. You may find that you need more than one attachment for a job. To me, a skidsteer without a bucket is like a shirt without a pocket!
@RockhillfarmYT
@RockhillfarmYT 2 жыл бұрын
Yeah, and it’s really just not the right trailer for hauling this machine on a regular basis. It’s not long enough for me to set the Harley rake at the front of the trailer and still get the weight of the skid steer centered on the trailer. May be possible if I back it on and get everything just right but not ideal
@tonyparris5278

I wonder if you took the trailer to a good fabrication shop if they could notch a section out so the harley rake would set flat or just cut the side rails off completely.
@RockhillfarmYT

The way the trailer is built I don’t think I can remove the side rails because they are part of the structural support. I was thinking about modifying them but now it seems like that might be unnecessary. It was pretty convenient the way I did it Thanks for watching

Looks like you’re hauling on a landscape trailer, just curious what the GVW of that is. If it’s got a six lug it’s probably just running to 3500 pound axles and might not be the best thing for a 9500 pound machine that also probably has a 1500 pound Harley rake with it. If you’re running a business I consider getting a 14,000 GVW trailer to haul that on because even with that trailer and your implements can still be technically overloading in and DOT in any state doesn’t like that
@RockhillfarmYT

How deep do you think you could get with this? And do you think you could get it done with one pass? I've got about 30 acres of pasture with 100 years of gopher mounds on top of each other with grass growing up thru them. This looks awesome for it but also super slow.

I hope you have your e-brake set on that nice new truck you got or else you're going to blow out your transmission the way it's rocking when you load that thing up put some jack stands in the back of the trailer by the ramps to hold up the backend of trailer while you load to stop the trailer from rocking so much to

@@RockhillfarmYT Yea I hear ya on that. I welded a deck to set the rake on. It set on top of the railing and was held down by u bolts around the tubing. Towards the front of the trailer. And I put boxes underneath it and the trailer deck to hold chains and what not and set my attachments on top of it. Worked good. But my trailer was 24ft.
