That has to be an interesting ride. You sure did an excellent job. I can only imagine how much torque it delivers in the low end. Thank you for sharing this project with all of us.

If the money is spent on better suspension it could’ve been a ton better for sure! It’s still a Harley and it’s still 500 pounds. Had plenty of hill climbing power tho!

Very cool… Imm looking at trading for a 78 model engine and transmission… I have been eyeballing my junk Honda 250 dirt bike frame and really considering a swap or maybe trying to build my first bike from scratch (using the front forks from a dirt bike)

Sportsters began as scramblers and race bikes for dirt classes. Nice to see one going back to its roots.

How did you make your custom chain sliders to keep it off the break on the bottom?!? I have a 2012 sportster and trying to figure that piece before I order larger suspension

Right now I’m running a skateboard wheel on the top where the chain guard mounted and a skateboard wheel on the bottom where the rear pegs used to mount. Cut some steel and make custom mounts for the wheels to get the chain off of the frame and rear brake. Sporty mob makes a good slider for the top. Bottom slider will prob have to be custom like mine

Could you move the pegs backwards, seen a company that use to make a kit for it, but has went out of business, just looks like the weight is off when you stand up

I wish. I know there’s company’s that make rear sets for these. It would definitely help a bunch

@@ClutchUpGarage I bet a man could do a little fabrication and come up with some, There is a bike that I seen on you tube that is raced, like off road racing, it looks as though they fabbed some , and it don’t look to bad, it’s a sportster and I want to call it the fritolet or something like that, but it looks to me like you could build a piece that would go all the way across and attach to the frame rite in front of the tire, not the swing arm, I don’t think it would b to difficult

@@ClutchUpGarage and looking at it with the pause and zoom, looks like it’s a pretty simple fab, 3 bolts on each side, On the passenger side they mounted it to the sprocket case cover and on the other side it looks like they mounted it in the same area, but a bike with the attitude of the build, it has to work well

@@ClutchUpGarage just trying to help you out, nice build by the way
