Hey HDR, great video as usual. I personally don’t care for the Harley trip planner, it never seems to work for me. I use another route maker. One thing to note when you import your route. When you find your route to import you must chose select-all or it doesn’t import your waypoints. Ride safe my friend.

Maybe the 2019 Boom Box GTS's use of GPX files is different than your bike, but I found that unless you zoom in (on the computer before export to thumb drive) and check the route closely and adjust waypoints as needed you'll end up with random turns. This is especially important if you're going to be on a divided highway. If you're going North, the HD planner might put the waypoint on the Southbound lanes. Then you get prompts to turn around. Going in and adjusting the route will stop this from happening.

These are great points and very true. The more time you spend with the mapping program the better your routes will be. Ride Safe

Nice video, we used the Day Planner on our trip to The Outer Banks I made a video of it, but yours is much more detailed. Thanks for the upload. Traveling Tall

I use that app to map out where I ride when I remember to turn it on. Never really used it to plan out a ride though. Sweet instructional.

Great video HDR! I think this season we're going to take advantage of our RGS and actually ride it lol. Looks like using a thumb drive is a lot less cumbersome than keeping your phone tied up unless you can download it from your phone via bluetooth. Thanks

The 2019 will allow you to transfer the trip via Bluetooth. I like to create the trip on the computer and then transfer it to the bike. Ride Safe

Good video. I found the this pretty easy to use. I send the files to a Zumo XT. It changes every waypoint to a new ride. 4 waypoints turns into 4 different maps. Ugg..

Don't know what your experience is, but I find I have to add a lot of way points to force the Boombox GPS to stay on the route I plot in the Day Planner. Even with the same route preferences the Boombox GPS sometimes has a mind of its own.

How are your filters set? Is it trying to reroute you around tolls or Highways?

I have noticed that the Boom Box always wants to route you to the quickest route. I am going to try to set my route on the Boom Box to Scenic route and see if that corrects the issue. If not I am working on a few other ideas to try. Ride Safe

@@HarleyDayRider Let us know if you solve the multi-waypoints issue as the BoomBox tends to make each a separate item.

I will do that. One thing I found is that when you go to transfer do not SELECT ALL. Just select the name you called the trip. This will give you one point. I am not sure at that point if you can skip waypoints I still have to test that out. Ride Safe

If you import the trail file you can load it from trails to follow the exact route as calculated by ride planner.

looks very much like the Rever app...wonder if HD licensed it... I am having problems with the import. When I attach and select USB, it shows a number of the same files, like it is reading each segment of the route. And, if I try to import, it basically says memory is full.
@HarleyDayRider4 жыл бұрын
I have found the onboard memory is very low. I would suggest to clear all of the old routes out. I have found that I just import all of the way points. and if you create the GPX with anything other than the Harley Trip planner it will never import. Ride Safe

Great video. ? though when I import the map to the bike its not putting all the stops on one route. Its breaking it up into, it multiple routes, it doesnt even have the starting point as the first location?

If you created a ride why do you have to change the preferences? Nav should follow the created route.

One question I have is...whenever I program or save a trip etc and have gas station POI's selected it seems as though I have to reactivate the function each time I turn the bike off. Is this normal and what do I do to stop from resetting it every time I turn the bike off?
@HarleyDayRider5 жыл бұрын
I think they all do that. I never pre-program the gas stations. Hope this helps. Ride Safe

HarleyDayRider kind of annoying since it's a setting. You'd think they'd stay programmed until changed.

Tried to transfer my route from Harley Ride Planner to my GPS, by using a GPX file and it doesn't work. It works well on my cell but when I transfer it to my Garmin Zumo 595lm it gives straight lines from destination to destination. In other words, it doesn't even follow the roads and it could only be followed by a plane/bird. I like Harley Ride Planner but I'm frustrated. Does anyone have any recommendations?

Yes make sure the flash drive is formatted as fat32. The device can not read a NTFS DRIVE. Once you fix this they transfer easily. Look back at my videos I did a step by step. Ride Safe

@@HarleyDayRider Do you then connect the flash drive directly to the Garmin? I'm not sure this is possible. The flash drive would be connected directly to my us port in my computer, which is where I plug my garmin up to as well. I'll try to track that video down. Thanks for your help.

@@williamkerner You can nit use the Harley trip planner with a garmin. It is for the boom box gps on a Harley. It plugs into the usb port on the motorcycle. You will want to use the Garmin trip planner.
