My husband had coronavirus and could not make it seven feet without stopping to catch his breath, it was horrible but he was not sick enough to be on a ventilator so we just had to find a way to help him at home after weeks of drinking at least a half gallon of mullein tea per day sweetened with honey and flowers of the mullein plant he is still having leftover covid-19 but his breathing has improved 100%.I am not a doctor and I'm not saying Mullen is a cure I'm saying Mullen has been used for millennia for bronchial issues it has been used for so long for one simple reason...... There is another use for Mullen that I think you left out of the video. The dried stalk of mullein plant, the inner trunk, was used to start fires by friction. Hand twirl the trunk against a flat board with a notch cut in it. This makes a good hot powder that turns into a glowing ember. Then you put that in a prepared bird's nest and blow and you have fire. delighted to have run into this video. Due to the Canadian wildfire smoke arriving in Ohio end of June 2023 I found myself wide awake at 3am gasping for every breath. The smoke was not visible and news did not adequately warn us to stay inside while this was occurring. I turned 60 this year and the after effects of covid which I caught real bad in Oct 2019 has diminished my energy level by half. Thankfully my A/C and Austin air filter spared me some of the misery I had on that first day thinking it was tree/grass pollen or some unknown malady. On my daily 4 mile walk up the road I noticed a super healthy plant which caught my attention. No more than a couple days later the top had been harvested by someone who beat me to it. Luckily I found several more tops not too far away which I grabbed up and brought back to my own garden. I read tea from the dried leaves is the easiest way to use it but am glad I researched it a bit before diving in. The tops I picked were by then dried and full of seeds which I read can be toxic. I nearly tried a cup of mullein seed tea which I see can be narcotic. Surprise. Always read or listen to an extremely cool and informed gentleman like this guy before taking the plunge. I am still shocked that I stumbled across this video while looking for info on growing 🌽. Instantly recognized it since this year I have full, beautiful, tall plants. Even better that it's medicinal. Another excellent video! I started my mullein flower oil this morning before watching this but forgot to wilt the flowers first, thanks for reminding me. I'll start a second batch and compare them. One trick I learned to help infused oils keep longer is to add a little salt (I use celtic) after the herb has been strained out. If there is any moisture, it grabs onto it and takes it to the bottom, then you can pour the oil off & leave the watery part behind. I use mullein for swollen glands, too. As a compress, or the oil topically or the tincture of the leaves internally. It's also helpful for groin injuries.I make mullein cough syrup by the jar & keep it handy for coughs/irritation from the dry air we have from heating with wood. I use the root a LOT. I make a decocted tincture, then put that in a spray bottle. I have a hip joint that plays up on me occasionally, if I spray that on at night and rub it in, it never fails to help the joint to slide back into place. Good for a 'crick in the neck' as well. It smells like vanilla, delicious. The excellent herbalist jim mcdonald uses root tincture by the drop, internally, for similar purpose.

I had a friend who had pneumonia, they had released her from the hospital but her congestion was not getting any better. I gave her some dried Mullein leaves and told her to put 1 Tbsp in 1 1/2 cup of water, and boil it down to 1 cup. Drink it when it's cool enough for her. She looked at me like I was from another planet. I told her that the worst that could happen is that it won't work. Then next day she came in to work smiling, clear, and saying "it really worked". (Of course it works. I don't recommend anything to anyone, unless I know it works). She went back to the doctors for the pneumonia, and came to me for more Mullein.

It is easy to dry plants.I use the clothes drying rack,put clean gauze,plants on top of it,and cover them with another clean gauze.Put in the shade,not in a sunny spot,as sun will destroy many of valuable things in the plants.Also,when dried in the shade,they will preserve the great smell and aromas.

Helps to be in an herb garden, for sure. I don't have that luxury. So I find a lot of herbs off the trails that I walk. I have an app on my phone, called "All Trails". It shows all the known trails near you. There are so many in my location I don't think I can ever walk them all. But, the idea is that I usually find some herb/plant on the edges of these trails. I then can mark the GPS location of the herb/plant or tree. So I have a ready made database of where my herbs/plants or trees of interest are. My herb garden is on the wild trails of New Hampshire.

Absolutely love this video, and you’re right, mullein has worked for me ! I’ve been using it for at least 10 years and the Mullien ear oil works wonders for ear infections . I would get compacted ear wax that would lead to infections and this has worked wonders. I used to flush the wax out of my ears when they would get clogged and then add a few drops of Mullien & Garlic or Mullien & St. John’s wort oil. Then, to prevent the wax from building up I’d use a couple drops a week to keep the wax soft. When I had ear infections, I’d put a dropper full in my ear and then use some cotton to keep the oil in my ear. Works amazingly well, but just a tip, if you warm the oil in the bottle first ( between your hands or under some warm water) it will work even better and be more soothing. I’ve also used Mullien tincture to help with pink eye. The alcohol does sting though! So, I would use a drop of the tincture first then flush the eye with water, and would repeat that one more time. It usually only took one time (one day) for the pink eye to improve or go away completely. Sometimes it would take two days, but the symptoms were significantly better the second day. I also used the tincture for allergies. I would take a dropper full of the tincture each day when my allergies were bad, and it really helped. I still use the oil for my ears to this day, and have helped so many friends and family with ear pain over the years, and they’re all pleasantly surprised when it works 😉. I stopped using the tincture, though, because my allergies had improved by changing some things as he mentioned- cutting back on dairy. Hope this helps someone else out there with ear pain !

Jennie, I wonder if a tea or decoction would help with the pinkeye--no pain and perhaps still gain. It probably should be let cool down because I think of the pinkeye as a heat thing. Just guessing.
@mamashomeschool9354 жыл бұрын
@@bobbiejofouts1708 Hey , thanks so much :) Actually, yes tea does work. I haven't tried it with Mullein , but I have made Chamomile tea, cooled it in the fridge and rinsed my eye out with the tea then placed a cool tea bag on the eye for 5 minutes. It works really well to soothe the irritation, but the Mullein works better for me in terms of infection and instant soothing. Never thought to make the 'eye tea' with Mullein as I never had the fresh herb/plant just the tincture, but next time I will try making a tea. Thanks for the recommendation ! * oh and just as a side note for anyone else, I ended up finding that diluting the tincture in some water first and then cleaning the eye with that tintcture /water mixture was also effective and didn't sting so much.

3 Years later after my last comment here, I can attest to the power of mullein tincture to help my asthma. I take 15 drops of tincture in a glass of water once a day and so far I've not had to use the Advair inhaler for spring asthma. I'm allergic to albuterol and the alternative so I've been without an emergency inhaler since they discontinued Max Air. I also used it when I had a bad cold and was still coughing afterwards. And I do smoke too much. I did not make the tincture myself, but the plant does grow here and this year I'll make my own. It's a wonderful plant and I'm so grateful to it and how fast it works.

It spreads like crazy and I've always just thought of it as a nuisance weed. BUT you really opened my eyes to its value! As you talked about its power as an anti-inflammatory, I was thinking maybe I should try it to cure my eczema. Then you actually mentioned that toward the end. So as soon as it blooms here, I will harvest it and make some oil. Before it blooms, how could I use the leaves to help with the eczema? Love your wonderful enthusiasm for the plants!
