GHS boomers, I look on eBay and buy what's cheapest in packs of 3. What's important to me is the gauge. I try and match what tension and tuning suits each guitar. Some guitars need heavier strings to sound better where it doesn't matter to others. General rule (Floyd rose) 9-46 for standard or Eb tuning. 10-52 for lower tunings. Fixed bridge 10-52 for all tunings

I got a Washburn N4 and putting the whammy bar back to get Dime Squeals is so much more comfortable, however, the body is too small in order to get a good dip out of the whammy bar. I really like putting the bar back because it looks so much more cooler and just is more comfortable to me. There's a Washburn Dimebag sig at my local pawnshop for $299, and it's beat to Hell, but I really want it.

Some guitars are slightly easier than others, but not really. If you're having trouble then I'd turn the gain up slightly and practice on easy ones around the 3rd 5th and 7th fret on the G/3rd string.

Fucking AMAZING video, I've been playing guitar for 2 years and I feel like I'm stuck, I practise some exercice for 1 hour on a daily basis, you know, coordination exercices, picking exercices, etc. but I'm not sure if that's gonna help me at all with my playing, I'm somewhat of self-taught and I'm not sure if this is the way to go, could you give me some advice please? I've seen all of your Pantera cover videos and I've gotta say that I wish I could play like you man, just.. fucking amazing.
@LambChopper67810 жыл бұрын
Don't burn yourself out on excersizes. I learnt and still do from playing songs from favarite artists and picking up their bag of tricks. It has to be fun, just try and make sense of how their solos are constructed and scales they used over certain chords and shapes. You'll learn a lot more in a practical way.
@Ericpach310 жыл бұрын
LambChopper678 . Thanks for the advice!! at first, when I got my guitar I started playing songs from bands that I enjoy, but I needed skills to be able to play them so I started off playing easier songs. Then after the first year I gave it a try to some Pantera songs and somehow I've managed to play Cowboys From Hell (except the shredding part on the solo where I tend to "improvise" lol) and 5 Minutes Alone, so I guess you're right! Keep rocking and posting videos man!!! I'm getting a Cort X11 with Floyd Rose soon so I'll be coming back to this video somewhen! :P

@LambChopper6788 жыл бұрын
+Ryan Day some rings have holes in different spots, that one is for a neck pickup that is narrower than the bridge on floyd guitars as well as being low profile.

The amp and gain structure is really important. Pretty much the more gain the easier it is. Maybe try putting an overdrive in front of your amp like a tube screamer or Zakk OD to an already distorted signal

Should I be worried about breaking a string? I'm always afraid that, when I pull back on the whammy bar, I'll break a string or two.
@LambChopper6789 жыл бұрын
Never, don't be silly
@BIOSHOCKFOXX9 жыл бұрын
Only way you can break strings is only if you tune it too much high, like...if you tighten strings too much, and you can know it by looking at place where you insert string, there are these rings going around string, that thing shows how many times you can tighten the string, it'll get shorter and shorter till it meets the end and it'll go out, or more like...pop out of a sudden, be aware, do not recommend watching up close it, string can hit your face, dunno how painful or serious it is, but that's a pretty tighten up string that just got loose, so you can imagine. Or if the string at tighteners wasn't properly tightened or sealed, or something like that, then string can bend too much and break at that point.
