If I could take a guess I would say it has to do with the absence of a background track. I totally agree with you. This kind of video hits the need of silence, solitude and ultimate peace that I seem to so desperately long.

I don’t even do my own setup. I’ve never had the confidence to mess with my truss rods or intonation but his videos fascinate me. In fact, I’m building up confidence to start messing around with a cheap, old acoustic. I wouldn’t reset a neck but I think I could adjust the saddle or nut.

Ah...a cup of coffee and Part 6 -- nothing finer to start off a Saturday morning. Great video, as usual. I think we all love these longer, more in-depth videos, as they are like a mini course in luthiery. I really do appreciate the effort that you put forth to produce and upload them. Thanks so much. P.S. At the risk of sounding obsequious, your narration of these videos is excellent. Very polished.

Ted: first off my condolences to you and your family. I’m not one of the emailers but I was in fact wondering if you were ok. My favourite part of this instalment was the neck refinish. My vintage OCD always kicks in when seeing stuff get modified but the neck is looking spectacular so far. The tutorial on the finish was excellent. Thanks as always for an entertaining and informative video.

This series was awesome . I salvaged a severely damaged H-165, dated from 1966. warped neck, water and black mold damage, broken tuners, poly finish half brushed on, side cracks, seam separations and tilted bridge and top. $35 for it. took me several months of casual work time, but very happy and playing it often. You are correct... it's repair friendly in the neck tenon area. Great video series. wish I had seen it when I did mine :)

Watching all your videos now - you are so skilled, not only as a luthier, but your narration is spot on and conveys just the "glue" necessary to make such daunting and otherwise turgid viewing so very interesting and informative. Excellent stuff brother.
@altruisticphilanthropic46474 жыл бұрын
As many others have written, the first item of order is to send condolences to you, and your entire clan. You owe us nothing, Ted. Those four that emailed you (multiple times), are obviously suffering from more than Covid-19-induced boredom. I dug many things about this posting, but the finest teaching moment was that even your chastisements were delivered calmly, and benignly, yet with a noticeable, perfectly sardonic, irony; "You probably don't need to do that." Time will tell. We all will hope that the postal ponies arrive soon, and we'll eagerly await the completion of this truly unique "HarmonyTedivarius". // You are admired & appreciated by trizillions...I'm simply one of 'em.

Sorry for your loss. I was so excited when your tuner was doing that I was hoping you were going to fix it, figure it out and set my mind at ease lol. I had one do that to me couple years ago on a vintage fender custom shop in my personal collection. Ended up just replacing, but I tried everything to fix it. Except drilling like you. No regrets as I also upgraded to locking tuners. When I called fender to get replacement tuners they could tell me they were a special gotoh, but gotoh doesn't make them anymore. However they had a upgraded line with locking tuners that fit perfect, no drilling. But its always been one of those things I always wondered and bugged me what the heck was wrong with that tuner. I still have them too lol. Someday maybe I can put it back to original but I do like locking tuners. Oh and I am about your size with bigger beard. I am not giving you a hug either lol. Made me.laugh when you said that.

I remembered that I French polished my coffee table as part of my submitted course work for O’level Woodwork (UK). Ted. You have my deepest condolences. You also have my appreciation for a small fact that some may over look, and that is when you share the sizing of things ie: nut width, string spacing, scale lengths etc..you often give the measurements in both Imperial and Metric. Where I live in South Africa we get confused with inches and such. So a huge thanks for the Millimetres..Keep your chin up and good job.
