Join me as I continue on in the new series: Front Foundation Refresh. We're going to fix up the front garden beds, and hopefully turn them into a beautiful, welcoming, all-season garden area that we can be proud of.
In this fourth video, I'm getting underway with actual gardening work! I'm tackling the job of pruning Lemon Thread False Cypress shrubs. Let's get it done!

From one hack job to another...thank you for making gardening so much fun and attainable for everyone. You make me feel like I can take chances in the garden, for better or worse...just roll with it or, in your infamous words, "it's outta here"! Happy gardening.

I dont even care what I look like when I'm gardening. Sunday I was trying to finish up a job installing new drip in one of my beds .. I literally took the hose and doused myself head to foot so I could finish the job it was so humid 😫. It worked.

Well, Jenny, you did it! You trimmed your “Cousin It “ cypress shrubs into nice cone shapes. I had some gold thread cypress like yours that were incorrectly pruned and did not recover. Those cypress have interesting foliage, and I was sad to lose them. Your pruning job looks quite good! 👍

I am always so hesitant to prune evergreens, afraid to mess it up. I always enjoy your videos. Your smile, good humor and ideas very much appreciated! Your garden garb is far more glam than mine but I am definitely copying your bandana head wear, the sweat stings when it gets in my eyes, it's been so hot here. Many thanks Jenny!

I have to do the exact same thing! My head starts sweating in less than 5 mins in this Kansas heat/humidity ugh 😩 I put a bandanna headband on with a hat. Must be my German Scandinavian heritage lol 😂 it’s frustrating sometimes I just want to go outside for a little bit but drenched in sweat. I think those cypress will do just fine. We had to hard prune a tiny 12 year old 2foot Japanese maple in mid July bag worms and Japanese beetles destroyed it before we got moved into my parents old home. It’s growing back strong and we thought it was completely dead. Jenny your front yard is going to look beautiful with the new renovation. I love how your teaching the landscape design part. That’s really cool! I like those false cypress they look like little lime hairy monsters that got a spiffy haircut. Lol. ❤️😊 Take care.

That's the Jenny I remember from the side shade garden whose video kept inserting "WAIT" and continuing her project because she wasn't patient enough to wait till the next day! Patience in planning is honorable but I totally understand your being anxious to get the project started. That would totally be me too. I know nothing about evergreens, looks good to me.🌲
