We do not have to look very far to see that our world has no shortage of problems. Worse, instead of linking arms and working together to solve them, we find our communities fractured. People feel isolated, disconnected, and fearful. This polarization seems to be everywhere. In our neighborhoods, workplaces, and even our own families.
Yet, according to the latest Giving USA report, giving is down across virtually every category - including giving by individuals. Now more than ever, we need MORE generosity - not less. Generosity can serve as a bridge connecting families, communities, and organizations.
Generosity is the most powerful lever we have to change the world, and everyone can do it.

Generosity is the most powerful lever we have to change the world, and everyone can do it. Wendy Steele is the Founder of Impact100, a grassroots global movement in women’s philanthropy. Since it began in 2001, Impact100 chapters have invested over $140 million in local nonprofits, growing through every economic cycle.
Wendy Steele’s work in philanthropy has been included in several books and celebrated with many awards including Forbes inaugural 50 over 50 list of women leading in impact, and the prestigious Jefferson Award for Public Service.
Author of Invitation to Impact: Lighting the Path to Community Transformation, Steele inspires readers to increase their impact through generosity.
The importance of giving back with the intent to leave the world a little better than she found it was instilled in her from a young age. She observes that there are two kinds of people: those who see the problems in the world and realize they can be a part of the solution and those who still need to be invited to the party. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at www.ted.com/tedx
