The late, great Harold Ramis discusses what he loves most about The Real Ghostbusters cartoon series that aired between 1986 - 1991.

One of the most amusing aspects of Harold Ramis, according to his good friend Dan Aykroyd, was simply the fact that he firmly did not believe in ghosts whatsoever. He was described as very skeptical, which Akroyd felt brought a wonderful perspective to the acting manner of the character of Egon and his dynamic with the other Ghostbusters. To the memory of Harold Ramis, our beloved Egon Spengler. :)

It also helped in the writing process when he would write the more skeptical, cynical characters like Venkman, Winston, and even Peck. He could identify with the characters who approach the paranormal with a “yeah, right” attitude, because that was *his* attitude.

the people who worked on this show knew more about child psychology than any of the counsellors I saw as a kid. And yes, it did help me survive night terrors

I totally agree with Harold Ramis (R.I.P.) about the Real Ghostbusters toys. When I was a little kid my parents bought me the proton pack a bunch of other Ghostbuster toys to teach me that there is nothing to be afraid of....especially of ghosts, specters, bogeymen, etc. Crazy to believe that the series is 35 years old (two years older than me). Can't wait for Summer 2020!

2 weeks ago was the birthday of voice actor Maurice LaMarche, who voiced Egon in The Real Ghostbusters/Extreme Ghostbusters and I posted this video to him thanks to a mutual friend we have who posted happy birthday to him with others, including myself commenting happy birthday to him, and he replied back saying he loved it and how honored he is to carry on the spirit of Egon. It made me happy that not only did he reply saying he loved the video, but also how much Harold meant in portraying and creating the character they both played.

Major props to Maurice, he's pretty much the only cast member of the animated series that sounded like the movie character.

This was so wholesome! I’m not really a nostalgic fan, unlike most people here. I just really got into Ghostbusters recently thanks to Afterlife, and Egon is my favorite character. I knew about it when I was younger, but I didn’t really care much about it then. Harold seemed like a really cool guy, and it’s a shame I never got to really appreciate him when he was alive. I was very young when he died, and that’s probably why I didn’t really get emotional at that time. But, when I saw Afterlife for the first time, that ending had me in tears. And, rewatching the original two movies made me enjoy his character even more. Harold Ramis was a really cool guy, and I’m glad he played the role of my favorite Ghostbuster, Egon.

"This isn't war, or cowboys and Indians. It's just people standing together against an unknown threat" Grandma on Los Dios De Los Muertos: "Thanks, Harold. Mi nieto only comes to see me once a year and you got him putting a little plastic box under me and making laser noises. Why do you make librarians and joggers and cruise ship passengers the monsters in these things, huh?"

The GHOSTBUSERS (1984) , GHOSTBUSTERS II (1989) , THE REAL GHOSTBUSTERS (animated series) , and GHOSTBUSTERS "Afterlife" (2021) were great for those very reasons! And sometimes it was about helping the good ghosts find peace.

I remember the ghostbusters giving me a feeling of empowerment as a kid. I had really bad nightmares growing and the GBs atleast made them not as scary and and almost kind of silly at times.
