It was actually the old ladies of Hyde who called Shipman "Dr Death". The journalist who broke the story, Michela Sitford, was asking one of Shipman's patients about him. "Oh, you mean Dr Death," the old lady said. "We've been calling him that for years. All the old ladies die with him. He's a good doctor, but you won't last."

Have you ever read the Hippocratic Oath? It may not be what you think it is, and is also neither compulsory nor widely adopted, and has more to do with how a physician should live and what kinds of patients should be allowed to be treated. Largely, people only know about the "first do no harm" part, without realizing that not doing harm has less to do with being a responsible doctor than other factors in Hippocrates's mind. It's from Ancient Greece, and their ethics were... a little different.

The receptionist at my primary school was called to be in the jury, but she had a connection to one of the victims. My mum would loudly complain whenever the trial was on the news, cos quite often the reporter claimed to be at the court but were in front of the Town Hall (Preston didn’t become a city until 2002).

There can't be any comparison between Bundy and Shipman. But if you are talking about the murders and how they were executed (no pun intended), not Bundy and Shipman. Going on that, which style of murder is more terrifying? I must say being murdered without knowing it's the person who is meant to care for the person's patients (I know I wouldn't let that person in if I knew I was going to die). And knowing that I will die with the person Infront of me is bad enough, but this is worse.

It's incredible that this happened. It is however more incredible that King's College Medical School allowed a female medical student to murder another medical student, cover it up, and graduate that medical student. She is now a doctor who has practiced for 8 years so far. I am sure Harold Shipman is sending his blessings to her from hell.
