Hello KZbin, unfortunately there are some minor audio complications in this video, i'm not to sure what went wrong, but if you hear a slight fuzz sound at one point in the video, don't stress, it's not your headphones! I hope to have this issue solved by the next video, that being said, enjoy!
This is a video lesson on the 'Harp Harmonic ' or 'Artificial Harmonic technique. In the lesson I use the introduction Tommy Emmanuel's arrangement to 'Somewhere Over The Rainbow' as the focus of the tutorial. You will find a breakdown of the technique, the use of harmony, a few little extra tips on how to make the technique work for you, followed by tabs and chord diagrams of everything played in the introduction of the arrangement.
I hope this tutorial is helpful and gives you a nice insight to this beautiful technique. If you enjoyed this lesson, please do subscribe to my channel, it would be a huge support, also, please leave a comment and let me know what you thought and what you would like me to cover in my future tutorials.

Thank you so much Nico, KZbin has been super tough, hopefully it picks up one of these days. Happy playing!

Thanks for this. If you could have somehow got a view down the fretboard of your fingers plucking the strings, that would have been even more useful.

@@LCD72 thanks for commenting! You are right! But at the time of filming I only owned one camera. I have two now, so maybe it’s time to make another lesson on harp harmonics 😎

this is a great lesson. thanks for the video. I have been trying to play that Amajor7/C# for three days! My fingers will not do it! I have an electric guitar with a super thin neck and I can barely play it on there, let alone my acoustic. Any advice? this chord seems impossible

I totally understand what you’re explaining! I went through it too when I first started to play this stuff. I think the best thing to do is give yourself time with the chord, try and play in the most relaxed way possible, maybe practice it passively, while watching TV or something, to give your hands time to stretch and get comfortable with it. Most important, don’t stop!

@@ZarekSilberschmidt I'm trying to play it relaxed but man does that chord kill my hands lol! One last question. You mentioned in your video you prefer the sound of the harmonics starting at the higher strings and moving down to the lower strings. But I noticed your tabs are starting on the lower and moving to the higher?

@@shirleyyujest I just wanted to present the tabs in a way that was easy to memorize, once you have the whole sequence memorized of by heart the player can play it anyway that sounds good to them. The ‘high to low’ thing is just personal preference. How’s that A/C chord coming along? Hopefully easier!

@@ZarekSilberschmidt thank you so much for clearing that up. I assumed that was the case but wanted to make sure i wasn't reading your notation wrong. The chord is a bit better...but my left hand ring finger is in a lot of pain!

I have small hands with short fingers (my pinky can reach the left side of 5th fret 1st string with index at 1st fret 6th string, or a comfortable octave on white keys piano) and I found these kinds of chords (A Major 7/ C#) unplayable on a classical guitar scale 650mm nut width 51mm, there's no way to barre 6th and 5th string at 9th fret and 3rd, 2nd, 1st string without muting the 4th string

Hey Vladimir, Thanks for your message. I know what you mean, getting those two notes in the low E & A string covered with only your second finger while leaving the D string free to ring out is super tricky! It took me a while to get the hang of it. I found that after practicing this chord for a few minutes a day, within my usual practice routines, my hands began to adapt to the chord. Incase it's available to you, perhaps try the chord on an electric of steel string guitar in the beginning? I know classical guitars usually have a much thicker neck. I hope at least something from here is useful for you. Happy playing mate.

@@ZarekSilberschmidt unfortunately I don't have any electric guitar or acoustic guitar but would definitely give it a try if I get a chance to play one, aside from that chord, your tutorial is really helpful, thank you very much for sharing!
