I learned some important lessons about fishing in the Keys watching this video. Lesson 1: Have no expectations of what will happen. You don’t know what you will catch or how you will catch it. Lesson #2: Things happen. Equipment or humans can fail. Be flexible. The captain and crew have the experience and knowledge of how to figure out a way to get a fish into the boat. Lesson #3: Sooner or later, you will catch a fish.

The biggest fear about throwing the harpoon is hitting the line with the dart.

I've never done it, but from the sidelines, it seems that patience pays off. Wait till you have a shot you are very confident that you can make, otherwise you risk hitting the line or sending the fish down for 20 minutes more of an opportunity to pull the hook.
