Harray Loch (Orkney) 2023.

One of the toughest days on Loch of Harray.
When this loch is off it is really off.
No matter what I fished the trout just didn't want to know.
Very hard work for very little reward.
Orkney style fishing requires very long fast pulls and lots of casting.
Not the best fishing video I have posted but I thought it was important to show just how dangerous a big loch can become when the wind gets up.
Harray is strewn with skerries (massive underwater boulders) which are just under the surface and will easily wreck a boat or engine.
Thankfully I hire a very experienced gillie which in my opinion is essential to keeping safe.

Is it possible to go dinghy sailing in that loch?

I wouldn't advise it. Very dangerous.
