We hiked this trail on 4/28/23. The road to get to the trailhead wasn't terrible, but definitely not in the best shape. A high clearance vehicle is highly recommended. Me and my wife are in our 50s and found the elevation change and terrain to be challenging, but not overwhelming. The scenery was fantastic! There was literally no one else there. The Trillium were in bloom and provided some incredible scenery. However!!! the farther along we got, the more over-grown the trail became. Every 50 yards or so, we found ourselves navigating another downed tree. It became so frustrating that we ended up turning around about a quarter mile or so before we reached Drift Creek. If you prepare yourselves for fighting tree branches and big logs, then go for it. Even though we didn't reach the final destination, the hike was worth it.

Thanks for sharing this report! Seems like it can be more common to run into trail obstacles early in the season before crews have got a chance to get out for maintenance.

Just completed this hike. My only additions would be as follows. 1) Do Not take a normal car up that side road to the trailhead. I have a 4x4 Dodge and it was tricky with that. 2) The first 1.5 miles of the hike out are a killer if you are not in shape. This was only my second hike of the season and I seemed to last forever. That being said, the last 1 mile is fairly easy coming out. As such, I would adjust your difficulty to being 4 boots on the way out. This is the second of your hikes I have done, and I appreciate the information.
