The Oregon Coast Presents: Yachats, Waldport and Seal Rock

Not everyone knows about this enchanting stretch of the Oregon Coast. And that’s part of its charm.

I am very lucky to be able to live here. Introduced to this unique gem by my girl. About 3 years ago she was doing this big move all by herself from Sacramento to Waldport. She has lived in Waldport off and on for years. Her safety net was her home in Sacramento. I saw her across the street and went over and introduced myself. We spoke for a while laughing at the fact that I have been living across the street from her for 2 years and never saw her. She asked if I had eaten breakfast and I said no. She asked me out for pancakes. How could I resist her beautiful smile. I helped her pack and load the truck. I ended up driving her van up to Waldport. I helped complete her movie. We have been together ever since. November 2018. I will never leave here or that girl with the greatest smile.

Great video. That stretch of coast from Yachats to Newport is a favorite of mine for lodging because of that low, open shelf along the ocean that makes it really easy to get to the water.

This area is ( or was) my secret... my slice of heaven. Yachats is calling me to retire there. Bread and Roses, The Village Bean, The Blue Whale, the beach, the Antique Virgin, The whole package.... Fly a beautiful kite on the beach, explore the tidal pools , play on the sand, hike the trails or just sit and enjoy the wind and surf of the ocean Drive 20 min north to Newport to big box stores, or have lunch at the Pig and the Pancake. My father-in-law grew up on a beautiful little farm right smack on the bank of the Alsea up from the bridge in Waldport. His father worked as a carpenter and handyman for the city. They had a few cows and chickens and said they always had milk and eggs beyond their garden. We all went by there years later back in the 90's after he had sold it and I could tell that hit him hard as he said he should have never let it go. I could see why as man what a beautiful little slice of heaven that property was! He told us how they used to go out by the bridge and both crab and fish for salmon when he grew up there and that they always limited out in no time. Sounded like paradise. RIP Ralph. Miss you every day!

Too late--the genie's out of the bottle. Rich idiots have been pouring out of California into OR, WA, North Idaho, Western Montana, and the PNW for over 30 years, driving up the cost of everything everywhere. The Pacific Northwest used to be a beautiful, inexpensive place to live, but no longer.

@@listofromantics There's some of that, but it's the high-paying tech companies based in Seattle and Redmond that have ruined the livability for many, of the Pacific Northwest. Only the very highly-paid techno-geeks can afford to live in the Seattle and King County areas, where the average house value is over $700,000. Look what they've done to the Silicon Valley area of California, where people earning over $100,000 cannot afford to buy a house.

So stop telling everyone! Honestly, OR, do you want the best, undeveloped parts of your state to be as expensive and choked with Urban Sprawl as the Bay Area or Southern California???
