Descended from the Allens of that area. My grand-pap, Simon Jefferson Allen, moved to Pittsburgh in 1923 after serving in WWI and getting married in 1922. He passed in 1990 and was an old-fashioned story teller. I remember some of those great old stories but have always regretted not recording them. They were true Appalachian Americana; kind of a Norman Rockwell in words.

Can anyone please tell me what exactly happened to Custer hollow, in the lost creek area. I live at the very end of the hollow back in the mid 70s with my mom and dad and siblings. There were only ours and a family that was there before us. I also remember a old large loghome there. We found an old civil war photo of a soldier with his leg on a tree stump. I know that the FBI set up shop there , but what about the homes. I now live in thee worst state., California.
