Hi there, thanks for the video. While I was watching Kyle's second power step (around 16:45), I was wondering: how can he score a glory point and then use it to play an upgrade? The new rules state that you play the power step, then reaction and inspiration steps and only after that, surge step. So my understanding is, he can't play an upgrade (or any power card) after scoring a surge, but must wait the next power step to do so.
@TabletopSydney3 жыл бұрын
Yep you're right. We played this a week before the game came out and we obviously had not had time to figure out every little detail in the rules yet. I'll be sure to correct this when we record next so that we are playing correctly :)
@Atilakus3 жыл бұрын
Surge step after activation gains glory and then play upgrade in power phase. Legal play even under new rules. There are 2 surge steps after activation and after power step. Same for inspiration
@TabletopSydney3 жыл бұрын
Actually looking at the rules I disagree here (respectfully ofc). The Delve happens after the surge step (it's in the power phase) and the next surge step takes place after the power step (which is after both players have passed playing power cards). Kyle would then score glory and the next activation would take place before he could spend it.

@@TabletopSydney I thought we are talking about Formidable focus 3 in enemy territory surge. I thought that was that Otapatl charge. My bad. Sorry for confusion!!
@MrNyerk3 жыл бұрын
@@TabletopSydney Thank you for the clarification. These new steps and the delve mechanic create a lot of confusion amongst my local group, they really do change the timing of many warbands, so I wasn't sure if was misunderstanding the rules or not (+ translation issues, as I usually play the french version).

Lets goooo, glad to see the boys back, but hope you still include Pri every now and then if she wants, harrowdeep seems interesting, keen to see your interpretations of the future warbands and to see the 2 new ones. Thoughts on the pirate warband? I think it’s going to be ogor maneaters

Pri did not like the idea of new rules for Harrowdeep, so i'll have to introduce it to her slowly :P New warbands I am unsure of, I don't like to formulate an opinion until I see models or rules, but the rumours sound interesting at the very least!

Welcome back, glad to see you having a lot of fun again :) What is your opinion on the rivals format so far?
@Kylem53 жыл бұрын
I'm sure you will get a reply from the TTS page, but I really enjoyed the Rivals format! I felt less pressure to score cards, because half of them are so situational that they are hard to aim for. The usual protection and damage upgrades are gone, combined with less lethals in Season 5 brings a whole new dynamic on how you kill fighters I reckon. Keen to try it out with some of the Beastgrave warbands I never really played before.
@TabletopSydney3 жыл бұрын
If you set your expectations at a ~10 glory game each, it's pretty fun. You have to pick and choose your objectives, and if you get greedy and try and score too much, you don't get anything. In my opinion, the skill ceiling is a lot higher in Rivals.
@barttie2173 жыл бұрын
@@Kylem5 They did indeed :) Thanks for elaborating on how you feel on the format. It will probably require a bit more strategy in order to kill you opponents since we are not able to build an all-out murder machine with the upgrades anymore. I look forward to seeing how much this format favours elite warbands over horde ones.
@barttie2173 жыл бұрын
@@TabletopSydney Thanks for the fast answer! It does look a lot more strategical, which is quite fun. But there will probably be quite a lot of dead cards in the format that are just bloody hard to score (like the 4 desecration tokens objective for Khagra's). Not being greedy sounds like solid advice haha. I've got a Rivals tournament on the 31st, so I reckon I'd better go practise :) Looking forward to the rest of your tournament, especially the matches with Myari's, Khargra's and Kainan's!
@mercurydrinker3 жыл бұрын
I'll mirror what others have said. The games are definitely fun and you get to play all the cards you would never use, which is great as it always felt like even though you 'deckbuild' in championship at least half your cards felt predetermined anyway depending on what were the current meta cards. While certain warbands are definitely stronger than others, Direchasm overall seems mostly balanced in Rivals too, we'll see about Beastgrave Rivals...

Hey can I make a suggestion? Could you also record with a smartphone for close-ups on models that are fighting? I know it's going to show on the top camera people putting the camera on and off-close of the models, but most of these models are so well painted and they really look cool, but we can barely see them from any angle, they look like blobs of color, and most of the times I'm watching on my phone I can't even tell which warband is which. This time I could tell cause the Skinks are really green, but lots of other matches I binge-watched I could barely see them. Just a suggestion, cheers! Loving to see this warband-only-deck tournament, this is cool.

Thanks! We don't do any editing for the videos (it's how we're able to do 2 a week) so any camera we use needs to have an SDI port out. I do want to invest in a better camera for the secondary shot, but they aren't cheap :P It's no.1 on my list of improvements :)

@@TabletopSydney Aaah, right, I forgot, you do everything on the fly as if it's a live video. Right. All right then, maybe a gopro if anyone has one laying around? I know mine can have a Video Out with a cable bought separetely, but it's possible, and if you put the GoPro upside down (closer to the ground) it looks even more epic, real close to the models. Anyway thanks for the reply and good games! EDIT: Actually, you could extract the GoPro video over WiFi so you don't even need a cable and it's better to put on the board without triping anything with cables, but you gotta do some shenanigans if I remember correctly, if you're using OBS and you have a GoPro I could search how to do that for you.

@kraziel3 жыл бұрын
@@TabletopSydney Awesome! The Hero 5 Session is even more subtle, it would barely distract if it's on the board. Okay, found it, there are 2 options, here's what you do: kzbin.info/www/bejne/eqrMlmmiaa2Lnas OR kzbin.info/www/bejne/jYDWmpSPbJxmlac www.gopro2webcam.com/#cameras If you use OBS (or if the software you use allows you to "record" your screen) you just capture part of your screen of that Live Preview window and setup as another angle you can switch to.
