He is still live, 94 years young, veteran US navy on WW2. His voice has unexplainable power touching our hearts. I respect him. Wishing his long life. I was just told he passed away on today April 25, 2023. His age is 96. Today I am so blue and will listen his song all day long in mourning.

42 years later and he still loves performing the only song most of the audience knows him for. Most artists grow bored of their number-one hit within a few years. That just shows how much Belafonte loves what he does and that he's a true entertainer, putting the audience first at all times. I wish I could have half that dedication in anything I do in life!

@@ksvats55 Loving to perform the song most of the audience knows him for does not exclude him from performing other songs that his dedicated fans know him for. It's not like I said he's a one-track artist, or that he only do one-song sets. Of course he performs more than one song. I was merely noting the enthusiasm he has for this particular song, after so many decades, where most other artists grow bored of performing the same song every time they are on stage.

I'm grateful my mom (born 1940), who raised me on this music and the oldies films! This was in the 60s and early 70s. We both loved and still love Mr Belafonte. He brought so much sunshine to the world in his music and movies. And he gave us the sights and sounds of the Afro-Caribbean Calypso of his heritage. As well as the history of how bananas reach market! The hearts and minds of the laborer, the harvesters, in those conditions (did you catch the black tarantula line?!). Love the diversity of this audience. And the gorgeous, heartfelt delivery of song Harry gave them. That voice! That face! That smile! Such a light! And if you followed him any time in recent years, as I have, I must share, I also love his politics.
