What a LADY, I remember way back in 72 I got great tickets to the Newport Jazz Festival and had just listen to the closing act which was Herbie Mann and I thought I had die and gone to heaven and as we were all standing up applauding his encore and getting ready to leave, the announcer said please wait that there was going to be one more act, almost as though it was a kind of an apology, and that this was going to be some kind of Rock-N-Roll not Jazz and right away everyone began booing, he then announced the act was Ike and Tina Turner and you guess it “Proud Mary”. I have never seen or ever will see again a more power, more energy, more fun, more vibration, and more insanity of the audience then that night, that night will live in my memory till the day I die, thank you for taking the time and reading this. Every performance I have ever seen, she is just RADIATING. Talent. Power. Joy. Some clips from this decade seem quaint - but Tina's just knock me over. EVERY TIME! Thank you for all you gave the world, Tina. Absolute legend.

Amazing performance. We are blessed, all of humanity, that there are born among us persons with such talent... and who work so damned hard to perfect it, and give it to us.

I saw them at Fillmore East in June, '71. I'm a Grammy nominated jazz and classical musician (but who lives in early rock 'n roll, which I grew up with). But Ike and Tina were one of, if not the most exciting performers I've ever seen. Steve Richman

Live musicians, Live vocals, High energy dancing and Sexy dresses. The Ike and Tina Turner revue were fantastic! For all his faults, Ike was a talented musician. There is a reason Tina wanted to be in his band. He can not take credit for her natural talent but he gave her a platform to shine. He created her stage persona down to the name Tina Turner. While Tina was the show, he created the show from her outfits, the lighting to arranging/producing their music and being the band leader. They're inducted into the Rock and Roll hall of fame together as a duo for a reason.

One question? Does all the things you've listed justify his abuse of Tina?
